Bringing you up to date, I haven't been a total slacker. When Momma bought Claudia (the Cletra, we got an organ dozer. So I wanted to have a little pocket cash and I wanted the place cleaned up so it was time to scrap said organ dozer. NOTHING came apart easily. Fought me every step of the way. The first load was just scrap I had laying around the house. The next 3 loads were strictly dozer. In the end, I took in 4 tons of scrap.

Here are a couple of interesting cars from the Westphalia Car show from a few weeks back. This show is always on a Thursday. Westphalia has about 950 residents, and the show usually attracts about 900-1,100 vehicles. They close the entire town down for the show. Anyway, these were the ones that caught my eye.

And the new neighbors showed up in the yard about 2 weeks ago. Guessing the kids are going to be troublemakers like the rest of their kind. Haven’t seen them since. Maybe we'll get lucky.

A Cheetah and a Willys, my two most favorite cars. I found a Cheetah body at one of our highway yard sales last year. He wanted 12,000 for it. Body only, no frame, no seat pan!
12K?!? I know they're kind of rare, but that's way out of my pocket book.
Great pictures!
Thanks, Jon. There were so many cars, even 2 Lambos. It's amazing the number and quality of vehicles this show pulls in, especially on a Thursday evening.

Ok, are you sitting down? Have 911 ready on your phone in case you hyperventilate, or maybe a paper bag. You get the significance of these pictures, right? That’s right, I’m finally starting to work on the big truck. Not moving fast because I still have a ton of other priorities ahead of this (finish corner trim on She Shed, finish paint booth, moving the garden fence, installing/upgrading electricity in out-buildings….)

#1.jpgNose bleed.jpg

I'm working on curing one of the visible issues you see, that the K-member sits about 6" too high. I already have 2 1/2" Belltech drop spindles, and I ordered my Accuair air ride system from Universal Air Suspension Co.. (Ernie Aldrete was a HUGE help) I know, it's about time.

A couple of small side projects I worked/am working on. The air cleaner on the Old Squid (the Buell) is for a Sportster. The frame of the bike gets in the way, so I added a ¼” spacer between it and the carb. So the bolts are a little on the short side, and kept backing out. Two SS socket head bolts and some safety wire, problem solved.

Also, you may remember the Caddy I bought for parts for the big truck. Guy said “It ran when I parked it”. I had to find out. If I pump 24v to the starter it cranks. And if I spray it with ether, she runs. So, I’m cleaning the carb to see if it will run on its own. I found the fuel pump actually works. When I took the line off the carb, it sprayed me a little (hose was stuck in a can of gas sitting on a fender).

Glad to see you posting pics again K, and making some headway on your projects!
I'm trying to post as I go, but life keeps getting in the way.

So I learned to drive on F-100 with a 3 on the tree, and a VDub with a 4 on the floor. I had a couple of 5spds (Dodge Bomni GLH and SAAB 900 turbo. My first bikes were all 6spd. Now Squirt **2 (the Sonic) is a 6spd and both bikes are 5spds. I get in the Sonic and the boss says "you're still in 5th". (smh) I get on either bike, and I keep trying to find 6th gear. Am I the only one who has this issue? Am I losing it? I don't have any issue with the Girlfriend (dump truck) that has a 4spd with a granny 1st. WTF?

I’m really disappointed in my Sonic. With just 227,*** miles on it, I had to replace the original serpentine belt and tensioner. All kidding aside, this car owes me nothing.

It's a goofy looking thing. That spring is the majority of it. Even with having to take off the right-side motor mount, it was still just a 45 minute job. You can probably do it in a half hour or less if you hustled, but it's too hot for me to hustle.

I just finished mowing the lawn. The weather channel says it's 81*F. that's too warm for me.

I start to degrade after the 80⁰ mark too. It wouldn't be so bad without the humidity. We were about 79 the other day but only like 30% humidity, it was actually kinda nice. Well it was much nicer than the current 90⁰ and humidex of 105⁰ that I just finished mixing and pouring some concrete in. :bs:

I borrowed the neighbor’s tractor, AGAIN. I’d just started using it when it slowly died. Plenty of fuel. Still, made me think it was a fuel delivery issue. So I changed the fuel filter, then dropped the water separator bulb. No water, but….. it was full of mud and slime. Cleaned it out and still no joy. So I swapped the fuel pump,…..and we have power.

While I had the hood up, I noticed the screens for the condensor and radiator were pretty dirty. The condensor screen was completely plugged. Explained why his AC wasn't working very well.

I’m thinking of coming out of retirement and going into the carboard box making business because I seem to be making a bunch of them lately. The big brown truck dropped these off, plus the one on the floor.

And this was what was in them. A special shout out to Ernie at Universal Air Suspension in Cali for taking good care of me.

What are you jacking up now!
The air ride on the '52.

My daughter’s truck blew an alternator back in late fall, and she replaced it. She was nervous about if she did it right, so the truck’s been sitting ever since. Turns out she had good reason to be nervous (but not for anything she did wrong). We put a new battery in it and fired it up. The alternator was over charging at anything over 1,700 rpms. Went to get the alternator warranty and her O’Reilly’s couldn’t find it. So I drove the truck to our place, removed the alternator and battery, and took it to my local O’Reilly’s and they found where she’d purchased it (where we were originally) and replaced both the alternator and the over-cooked battery under warranty.

Got that fixed and noticed a fairly big miss. Drove it a little and it popped a code for running lean and a #4 misfire. A new injector and a half hour later, the misfire is gone. (the pink one is the new one).

I have to be careful, I want an old semi on a late model 1 ton chassie! But I don't need to start another project until I get some of the projects done that I already have started. But these cool old trucks keep popping up!
I hear that. The Caddy was supposed to be just a parts car. Yeah, about that. Though if you have a running one ton, then all you should need is new cab mounts.

I had a 79 gmc 3+3 chassie with the 454 and turbo 400. I was going to put the Kenworth on it, but someone wanted it mor than me so I sold it to him, without the motor and transmission, he said he wanted to go Diesel! I keep looking at my F250 superduty, but I really need to just sell it and clean up some of the stuff around here. I have been collecting chevy obs trucks lately, I have the right stuff to make a really sharp 93 right now! I keep telling myself to get other stuff done and let it be a winter project.

Another little job that needed to be done was to finish the trim on Robin’s She Shed. The scrap pile was making access to the SE corner impossible. Now that the scrap is 85% gone, I was able to finish the last of the trim. Still need to fix one track on the big bay doors, add some more stiffening braces to the trusses, and install ALL of the electrical. And if you look closely, you can see where I put the crushed concrete the GF was hauling. I hope to start installing the floor platform for the paint booth this coming weekend, but don’t hold your breath.

On a more mundane note, the stupid floosies and their brats were wandering around the front of the property. Somebody ought to mention birth control to the silly women. There were about 3 hens and 10-12 little ones. I love living where I do……..except when I hit a deer with the car. (Saturday afternoon, but there was no damage to the car, and the deer wasn’t anywhere to be found when I went back later.)

The turkeys are fun to watch. Those mamas have a time keeping all the littles together.

Of all the wild critters we have around here, they're 3rd on my fun to watch list, proceeded by fighting rabbits (boy can they jump high), and #1 is lightening bugs. This time of year I actually miss leaving for work at 4:15 in the morning. They make it look like the stars come right up to your feet.

Kirk, you're not losing it. Well, if you are, I'm way ahead of you. When I was 27 I bought a brand new 1971 Vega GT with a 4-speed. It replaced the '63 Triumph Herald that also had a 4-speed. The '68 GTO had a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 with a His-n-Hers shifter. I got so used to driving the Vega I shifted the GTO like it had a 4-speed one day. I shifted the GTO from 3rd to Reverse at 50 mph. Only damage was to my underwear.
