So like a few of the other guys on GJ, I have the week off, thanks to Generous Motors. The temps have really high, so I haven’t been as productive as I hoped. I started off priming and painting the eaves on the Duck House. Then, for the princely sum of ~$10, I made a rack for bathing suits and towels for the pool area. I sprayed some heavy duty Roundup on the 6’ tall thistle on the pool patio and some other “junk” around the place. I also did some minor repairs and maintenance to the mower. Amazing how much easier things move when they’re greased.

I haven't decided if I'm going to do a separate thread on the COE yet. It's going to be slow any way you slice it, what with trying to improve our little slice of heaven and keeping up everything else. The mill was an awesome score, for $200, I couldn't go wrong.

And on the Bambi front, this is my 4th or 5 strike in 3 years, so I hear you

Hey BMF, it is an old Bunton that I picked up for the huge price of $400. It's a freakin' beast but it always starts. I still can't see the pics in your thread, even though I'm using chrome. I'll figure it out...eventually.

xtremek there is nothing like a week off to recharge your batteries and get a few things ticked of the to do list.

I did get a few things ticked off the to-do list, but it was SOOOO HOOOOTTTTTTT. The heat index was over 38C for most of last week, so not much recharging and less done than I wanted.

Looks like you were productive in spite of the heat. I didn't realize GM and Ford were taking the same week off. I guess it makes sense with the 4th holiday and all.
I did get some things done as well but man, some of those hot days I could only work outside for 15-20 minutes at a time before having to come in and cool off.

Preach that!!!! I was glad I got the pool squared away, so I didn't have to step on the thistle, because I spent more time in the pool trying to get my body temp down than I did working

I think that came from back in the 70's when theft was rampant and people used to carry stuff out in their lunch boxes, etc., but that's just a guess.

Last weekend, the McGuire procurement agency (Mom and Dad, the royals of garage sales) was able to find another set of toolboxes ($80 for the pair and some general tools) I wanted for the barn. I took the “new” bottom box and old top mechanic tools box and set them up between the wood lathe and work bench for Robin. Then I took the “new” top box and old woodworking bottom box and set them up between the mill and lathe. I’m still working on getting everything loaded into the boxes.

Ok, so I righted these pics in "Paint" and saved them in the correct orientation. Then I opened them again in Photo Viewer, in the right orientation, and resaved them in paint, and they still come out sideways. What am I doing wrong?

The heat made me move an old project up the priority list. A neighbor gave me two of these fans, but one was missing part of the mounting hardware. I went to GEI and he had the rubber bushing in stock, but didn’t have the metal portion. About 45 minutes later, I had new mounting hardware ready for the installation.

Another project that had been sitting around for a while is wiring the south wall outlets in the breaker box. On top of that, I want to put the mill on its own circuit. I finally got the wire run to the breaker box.

Another quick project is to take this sprayer and set it up to spray chloride on the driveway. The late FiL has it set up to tow behind a lawn tractor and use a wand. I want to set it up with a 9’, two piece boom, so I can just cruise down the driveway. Just missing one little adapter. I’m pretty sure I’ll need to add more tips, but I want to try running water through it to understand how many.

Man you've been busy and making up for those hot days in the pool. I bet that was a refreshing way to beat the heat.
I see you pics of the tank sprayers came out right. Did you do anything different when you snapped those?
The you saved the other pics in Paint did you rename them or just save with the original file name? I'm not sure but wondering if the just saved with the original formatting even though you changed them in Paint? This is a puzzler.
I know the sometimes I snap the picture too quick with my iPhone before it has adjusted for orientation and my original pics come out sideways. But, I always rotate them in Photos on my Mac and then export those to another folder I use for GJ uploads and that will fix them. Maybe your issue is a Windows thing that will require more online research.

Thanks guys, but I wasn't that busy. They were all 15 minute jobs. But considering the heat, I guess I shouldn't expect a much better pace. And the sprayer pics were taken with the phone held in the "normal" position.

Another project I got in last week was that I cleaned up the towel rack and rattle canned it. My better half picked a blue, to go with the pool. The hinge on the pool supply cabinet needed a quick fix, so out came the JB Weld. We finished cleaning up the patio, put down some more indoor/outdoor carpeting M&D gave us, and got the patio furniture out. Just in time for me to go back to work.

Ok, I'm stumped. I saved the pics in Paint in the correct orientation, then closed everything, then reopened them, and resaved them under a new name. And they still come out wrong.

Been feeling frustrated with the homestead lately. So last night I started cleaning the barn, first tiny corner partially cleaned up. Also started making a platform for the mill to sit on. It’s been on the furniture dolly since I brought it home. Now I need to swap the dolly out and put some corner stops to ensure it doesn’t come off the platform.

Kirk, don't go overboard on the cleaning. If I get my garage or shop looking too neat, I'm reluctant to start a project and mess it up. As long as there's enough flat surface to start the job, I'm OK. Full Disclosure: I don't remember the last time my space was too neat.

Congrats on a COE. I always hankered after one, but decided I really wouldn't have a use for one eventually.

Try Irfanview for rotating pictures (and a zillion other things), I think rotate sticks with it when saved.

I like this idea I would double up the Tips where the tire tracks are at so you get double coverage there and help to keep the snow/ice under control!

Great work! I'm pooped after a weekend at Scout Camp, but your posts are inspiring me to quit making excuses and get to work on the barn before it's winter again and there's more excuses to not get stuff done. The Cab over is SWEET! I just picked up a 49 F3, she's not seen daylight in 8 years, the fuel tank smells like terpetine, new master and wheel cylinders, brake lines, carb kit and fuel pump on the way.

Hey Milner, thanks for dropping by. Don't let the posts fool you. There are some nights I have nothing left in the tank and all I do is veg on the couch. And good for you for doing a weekend of scouts, I'd be beat too. Cool about the F3, I had a '56 F500 but life got in the way and it had to go. Got any pics you can share? The cabover is my chance to do it right.

I'd throw my leg over the chopper long enough for a short trip to town for dinner, COB. I'm constantly surprised by the quality of rides my little backwater town has trolling the streets.

It was a decent weekend here at the Princess Palace. Friday night, we took the whole fam damily to see Lion King at the Wharton. Unfortunately, I slept through about 50% of it. What I did see of it was amazing. Saturday was spent running errands, so not much work got done.

But Sunday, I got the fill panel of the last garden gate up. We figured out we don’t have the coin to fix the “new” tiller so it went back together. I replaced the leaking tank on the mower with this tank from an MTD riding mower. I finally moved the mill off of the busted dolly and onto its stand. That little piece on the blue tile is part of the caster from the dolly. I found the prop rod from the lid of the duck feeder shed a while ago and I finally got around to drilling a hole into the rod (I previously used a e-clip) and putting it back on. I also trimmed off the screws holding the roof on the same shed. I also moved all the equipment out of the old shed into their final storage spot, though the Jenga still need to done. Aaannnnndddddd, I used the mill to trim the legs for the surface plate stand.
