For the last 9 months it seems like my life is full of toe stubbing. Lots of little stuff going wrong, but in the end is no big deal. SOOO!!!!!!! I want to know which one of you clowns moved the furniture? Friday night, the Old Mule wouldn't start (forgot the throttle has to be wide open). Get home, tractor starts, no hydraulics, sump has a bunch of water in it. Can't pull the tractor in the barn because the dump box is still in it (not sure the watered down hydro fluid is the issue, I need to diagnose it). Get up Saturday, take Molly to dance. Get to the highway (US 27, which is clear) and the cars acts funny. Pull off the first chance I get (2miles down the road) and we have a flat. Get home, borrow the neighbor's Kubota to plow, but can't see out of the windshield because he blew a hydraulic line a few weeks earlier. Clean the window with wax and grease remover, wiper blade gets all weird (rubber kind of melts). His washer bottle drains rapidly, find hose off, fix hose. Plow driveway, go to town to get neighbor 2 new wiper blades. Help neighbor put back blade on (used front blade to do my plowing). Get almost to his barn and tractor won't steer (left front tire flat and off the rim). Get up Sunday, putz in the barn, torpedo runs out of kerosene. Throw kero jug in the back of the Sonic, Sonic battery is too dead to start the car, and no room in the trunk of the Saturn for the kero jug (flat tire remember). Monday, I get the tractor tire fixed. He wants to swap out the front blade for the bucket. Go to put it on and his jack won’t lift the tractor. Go home and get my bottle jack. Tire is on, then the tractor won’t crank. Hook up the battery charger and it starts. Dump the front blade and the tractor dies. Search and find the water separator bowl is full of ice. Take the frozen bowl into the barn and ½ hour later it’s thawed. Put it back on and the tractor runs for 5 minutes, just long enough to get the bucket on. Crank and crank, finally fires up for 20 seconds. After doing that about 6 times, we get it into the barn. Set the charger to trickle, fire up the torpedo and call it a day. If I find out which one of you pot lickers moved the coffee table, I'm gonna beat you with a wet noodle until your fanny turns red. Which one of you ************* did it? Fess up.

it might have been me!

you'll have to show up at my place and I'll explain my reason behind it all.

right after you use my backup snow removal device!

it'll get better spring is only 2-4 months away not the 6 months it was in November!

If this is the worst I have to deal with, I'm golden. And I have to cross 27 every day, as well. It would be funny if we were doing it the same time.

I haven't been a total slacker, the dump box is just about ready to set back on. The tail panel is welded on. I'd like to carve a tree into it and back light it, but I can't get the borrowed plasma cutter to work well enough. I also think I'm going to french a trailer connector into it. Progress to the tailend so far.

What’s wrong Ethel!
I was over yonder at the Pick n Pull and got mooned!
You did? Which Pick n Pull?
The one in Pottycrack.
Oh my, whatcha do?

We used to find candy in the cars at a local yard and eat it. I remember one time I found a new bag of peanut M&Ms, yummy! A lot of the time you would also find tools and other cool stuff. Also used to always fill my pockets with fuses, Saab’s have the most fuses for the effort. ;)

Very cool that you and the wife got into that video. And you found the parts you needed.

Bob

Very cool. We ended up going to 2 different yards to get everything we needed. But now I'm a little annoyed at myself. When Robin totaled the Sonic, the adjuster told me about Best Value Auto Body Parts in Grand Rapids. New parts for new/er cars dirt cheap. Bumper cover (minus grilles) for $45 as an example.

100% agree, thanks for the thread

Glad you are enjoying our version of insanity. Drop by anytime.

I wish we had more places like those yards around here, really only a couple and even those aren’t reasonably priced.

Quick update to the dump truck. I decided to put a 7-way plug in the tail panel and a 6-way on the bumper. It would have been so simple to throw the license plate and plug on the face of the panel, but the hot rodder in me just couldn’t do it. So this weekend, I frenched the trailer connector into the tail panel. Here’s step-by-step pics of what I did.

Since Sub69 dropped by, I'm not ignoring this, just been pushing hard at work and home. Regional Science Olympiad just got cancelled for this year (my wife agnozied over this decision), so life should get a little bit better. But the daughter does have a dance this weekend, but next weekend is now free. I do have pics and a real update, maybe I'll get to it at the comp.

Thanks for dropping by dt73, sounds like you enjoyed the trip.

For everyone following me, this c-19 has me working from home, so I get back 4 hours a day,......but I swear I'm working an extra 2 hours a day. I am finally getting 8 hours of sleep now. Feeling a little bit better, but I'm still maxxed out. I do have some pics I need to upload from the last few weeks.

I forgot about your commute, you must be more productive without that.

You would think, but because we're out in the middle of nowhere, I have to use my work phone as a hotspot and the throughput is dismal, but tons better than the satellite internet we have in the house. So in the end, it's almost a wash. Example, I can't do a Skype meeting. It always kills the connection.

Well Extremek, I have been off of school all week and between grading and creating E-Learning lessons for my students I have read from beginning to end this whole thread! I had subscribed way back but never took the time to catch up. I am very impressed with the whole ordeal and your persistence for not taking no for an answer. Keep on keeping on man. Someday may be in your neighborhood, will have to try to remember to pm you before so I know where you actually are. Now that the dump truck will be back working, what are the plans for the COE? Wife working from home? Hope all is well, really weird times right now for sure.

Jon

Farmer Jon, sounds like you and my wife are doing the exact same thing right now. I hope you're having better luck than she is, thanks to slow internet speeds and LCC's system not being able to handle the traffic load. And thank you for the compliments.

My wife convinced me to get the '03 F-150 S'crew running, so everything has stopped but that. I was planning a trip to get a good frame for the COE, but c-19 has stopped that. So the current plan is to rebuild the floor jacks, get the S'crew moving under its own power, fix the Saturn (brakes, struts, and hopefully cruise control), get the dump truck finished (for now), check a few things out on the trailblazer and get the barn ready for the big thrash on the cabover. Maybe by then, the beer bug will be over.

Thanks again for the compliments.

Yes, Indiana schools now have been closed until end of April. We just had a stud colt (Shetland pony) born. So between two other mares that should be foaling, we have three grandkids in 4H now so have three bucket calves and one dairy steer here to be worked.

Thank you for sharing your ongoing journey. Will keep a closer eye so I don't have a 68 page journey the next time! Hope the mule is still going, they are calling for some snow here Sunday (tomorrow) and maybe Monday. I would assume that means you also are in for some flakes. Stay safe and healthy.

Hey there Extremek, don't mean to be a pain, but setting the dvr on the Motor Trend channel just a few minutes ago and "Texas Metal" has a 2 part show tomorrow, Sunday from 5-6 and then 6-7pm on customizing a 1950 Ford F5 COE. If you can watch or tape it, might be some great ideas. Just thought I would share the news.

Farmer, we did get snow yesterday. It came down so slow that you could count the flakes while doing something else. Your talk about the animals bring back a ton of memories of weaning (bucketing is a term I've never heard before) calves and farrowing pigs, thank you sir.

Unfortunately, we don't have cable, satellite TV, or fibre optic internet. The only affordable internet we have is satellite and my wife tested the speed was 540kbs. But I appreciate the heads up. I may see if there's another way for me to get the motor trend channel.
