He got all pumped up to dump a load but got tired of that.

The truck needs a name. How about Daisy Dump truck? Glad to see her paying back.

Funny you mentioned that. Been trying to figure the name out for several months now. A vehicle usually "tells" me its name if I wait long enough. If I rush it, it comes out wrong. Notables include "*****" ('93 Saturn SC2), "the Pink Pig" ('56 F-500), "the Orphan" ('91 SL1), "Lil Squirt" ('12 Sonic), .... Named the F-150 "Smooth", but that isn't right. It should have been the "Lead Pig", for as slow as it is. "Ugly" just popped into my head. I was calling it "Girlfriend" Saturday. In the end, this old girl doesn't owe me anything.

So Discount Tire had delivery issues and they still didn’t have my tires Saturday morning (a week and a half later). I went ballistic. Brad (DT guy) stayed calm and asked me to hold. I had originally bought 4 tires (I had bought the cheapest they had) to replace the worst of them. Brad came back and said we’ll give you 4 of the next level up. Went to pick the truck up today. 6, not 4, of the up level tires. Everyone has issues, but do you stand behind your stuff? Discount Tire stepped up, and delivered beyond expectations. There’s a reason I go back to them, especially this store.

I got to wear a sweatshirt tonight, it was so nice and cool.

Sounds like they made up for it for sure.

Just turned the furnace in the house on for the first time this fall. I WAS pissed that after 10 days, my prepaid tires hadn't made the 50 mile trip from their sister store, but 6 brand new tires more than makes up for the delay and lost day of work. I happier than a pig in poop.

Ughh, bad dad joke. Says a crown prince of bad dad jokes. And no, the radio doesn't work, yet.

We lugged along for a while.

Yes, we can tell who the dad's are in this group.

This rope walks into a bar and starts a fight, the bartender throws the rope out and says dont ever come back.
A week later the rope ties a knot in himself and ruffs up his hair and walks into the same bar.
The bartender says HEY arnt you that rope I threw out of here last week.

The rope says nope, I'm a frayed knot!
Ultimate Dad joke.

Ok, ok I'll leave

Here!
A Scottish man got his leg crushed under a car and the doc said his entire left leg would need to be amputated. The man replied "at least I still have two good knees" and went on to explain "my right knee and my wee knee".

Can't keep up with 3rd grade humor -- well, actually, I could add to the fray from my high school teaching days, but won't.

However, I can confirm that they don't make tires like they used to. Within two days of each other, I lost a tire on each side of the car hauler -- while it was sitting still!!?!!

Replacement wheels are in the workshop, but since it looks like failure might be due to length of installation instead of mileage, I'm waiting until I need the trailer again.

In any case, I like the way you've brought the dump truck back into use. Your work, even toys, seems to have functionality in mind. . . .

HOLY COW!!!!:eyecrazy: :wtf::scared: I thought mine were bad. At least mine were on the truck when I bought it, and it had been sitting for many years.

And yes, almost everything around here needs to be able to be used as a tool. Part of not having any extra money. Hard to justify something that's just pretty, but we can justify a pretty tool.

Everything here has to serve a purpose, if we can't work with it, make money with it, or eat it we don't buy it.

I have a lot of exceptions to the rule...

Boat and motorcycle are gone though. Only leaves about 20 exceptions left.:)

Once a year or so I go back to the beginnings of a thread to see how it all began. This one involved beating a poor defenseless Old mule like a rented mule. :)
You sure were working hard in '14-'15, wow.

I recently got my crawler running and driving again. Like old mule, it's got horrible paint. Unlike old mule, it smokes like a locomotive. The lift cylinder is shot, so the blade is off, but I'm going to use it to yank some hung up trees down this weekend.

I love using this kind of equipment, it owes us and the world nothing.

FWIW, the Old mule is still being worked hard. It's sitting at the in-laws place. It pulled up a bunch of shrub along that driveway, pulled down an 8'x12'x10'(tall) shed, then pulled it's unburnable parts into a dumpster. And finally it'll be spreading asphalt milling on the driveway. Pics up soon, I promise.

When you get a chance post up some pics of the crawler. In action if you can. I'd love to see it.

X2!

My Grandfather bought a old John Deere gas crawler loader to dig out his pond. I swear he wrenched on it more than it ran for that project, but it would move some serious dirt when it was running!
