Kirk,
Good job.
Your ears will be much happier!

THat is absolutely the truth. We were wearing ear plugs when we rode in her.

Nice scenery.

Always remember QST

Fall is hands down my favourite time of the year. It's not stupid hot so you can actually work outside and enjoy it. And the scenery in the country is

I can't agree more. It's the whole reason I used to drive the crazy commute. And now that I'm home all of the time, I realize even more how lucky we are.

Did you have trouble getting the manifold on, the one without the added horizontal supports? We were just talking about those manifolds and how they sometimes deform and you can't get the bolts back in. The other style is much more rugged.

I didn't have any issues. I'm familiar with those manifolds and even used the spreader tool. I think I got lucky because they're off the original truck from back in '82.

Another great thing about being rural is you can burn brush and branches. Just finished burning up the rest of the treetop I yanked down last Friday. Didn't have to haul it somewhere and probably poke my eye out.

For brush, I have a pile just past the pines where I throw everything and just let it rot. The grapes have overgrown most of it, so you really never see it. Have I mentioned how much i hate wild grapes?

More leakage fixed this past weekend. The hydroboost was leaking into the cab. I had to cut the nut off with a die grinder, made only 2 light nicks. Then to tighten the nut, I had to develop special tool KM#26. The legs weren’t stout enough to loosen the old nut, but enough to tighten the new one. And another area cleaned up and painted (pwr stg pump).

The ducks were making a ruckus yesterday. I went out to see what was going on and found these interlopers up near the house. Same group as the other day.

I have a lot of turkeys around the Hill, but no ducks. It is always unnerving when you hear them fly out of a try, they make a heck of a racket and you don’t expect them to be 50’ off the ground.

You're not kidding about being LOUD!! The noise kind reminds me a military helicopter, kind of choppy. And watching them fly, they are so ungraceful.

We have about 15 Muscovy ducks. One will be thanksgiving dinner.

My wife has 17 of various inter-mixed breed domestic ducks. The two mallards were travelers, stopping in to take a break.

Kirk, I have a special tool for that job. It came with the aluminum Hydratech mounting plate for my '72 Corvette. I don't expect to ever need it again and I would have been happy to post it to you. It isn't a socket, just a 2.4" tube with one end having flats machined on the inside and the other end having flats machined on the outside.

I'll remember that. I might just need it in the future, when I do the '52.

Even if your the dumbest in the room your still in the room and have the chance to learn and get better.

its if you'll be smart enough to learn and be better for walking into that room!

I sucked up as much as my poor old brain could handle. Those guys were/are scary smart.

Either way, the kids probably couldn’t figure out why you were asking them what time it is when you are pointing at the weird thermometer on the wall. ;)

You know what the most interesting thing about these kids is, how hard they worked. They literally never stopped. Most of them worked on school and projects 18+ hours a day, 7 days a week.

I've been busy working for the general and getting ready for winter. Putting pool stuff, yard tools and the like in storage. Did get the brakes done on the Orphan (the Saturn SL1) and found the coolant leak on the Sonic (a crack in the surge tank). Not much really notable. I'm about to start the next bit of fabbing on the Girlfriend. I'm going to build a setup so that I can pin the box to frame. A lame excuse for having to use the welder, lathe, and the mill.

Isn't it amazing how much time it takes to get stuff put away and ready for winter? It doesn't seem like much but it adds up in a hurry.

Happy turkey day to all you folks south of the border!
