Surely there was a little bit of a thrill when all that lumber showed up!! I'm sure you (and the Mule) will rise to the challenge. . . .

Well I guess it wasn't blown head gaskets. Pulling the heads off of the motor I kept from my late Uncles '73 Chevy (I think it's a '73). Both heads

This is for the Girlfriend (the '82 GMC dump). When I scrapped out my late uncle's 1/2 ton Chevy, I kept the motor. I pulled the heads, and I'm cleaning them up now. Just came in for a cool down break

I’m feeling very Joanie Mitchell tonight. “They paved paradise and put up a parking lot”. Been trying to figure out what kind of trees to replace them with, and where to put them. I do like the wild Cherry, but would also like maybe some maples.Cleared 4.jpgCleared 5.jpgCleared 6.jpg

I was actually thinking sugar maples for the sap. They won't be in the yard, probably up front, so I won't care if they're messy.. I would like to get a tree or two for the yard, and I like maple, but Robin doesn't because they're over done around here.

OK, I'm done working on hemp, the Girlfriend, and my daughter's '03 F150 S'crew. After last night, I'm building an ark. Almost 5" of rain.

I seen that the Windsor/Chatham area got hammered last night and was wondering if you got it too. Did you miss the winds? Apparently there are roofs off and trees down around Comber/Sarnia.

We've only got 1.5" over the last 36 hours and that's enough for now.

The rain gauge said 4.85". And yes, the wind shook the house all night long, literally. Started at about 10pm, and quit about 5:30am. Knocked down a bunch of Robin's hemp, but not like if it was wheat. We'll still be able to cut it easily. Other than that, no issues.

This is the better of the two heads. Tons of knocking out rust deposits. Actually ended up drilling the passages. Just lapped the valves in and calling it good enough for the rattle can.head 2a.jpgHead 1.jpg

I have a matching set. She's always used a little coolant, but bringing the travel trailer back from Ionia, it got to the point where it really let go. The Girlfriend is becoming high maintenance. But she's still low cost, and she puts out enough to make it worth it.

Cut hemp at the home plot yesterday. What a bunch of newbs. Need to replace a ton of blades. Mowed the lawn afterwards and a small piece of stalk got sucked into the mower. What a mess. Was almost afraid I was going to have to spend serious time under it untangling it.

Don’t know anything about hemp farming ,but that doesn’t look like fun. When I was young we lived on a 10 acre farm ,and my father tried growing different crops , so for several years we struggled to figure each one out. Looking back now ,it sucked then and the thought still *****!

Long way to say ,next crop you will be experts.

The learning curve is always the hardest.

Not that the work gets any easier as you go. But you don't second guess yourself as much.

Will you be drying it in the field?

Yeah you just let it sit in the field for about a month to a month and a half. We've learned a ton. We've still got a long way to go though. Our crop isn't very consistent. Next year should be much better. And I'll say, compared to the hay I used to put up as a kid, or having big animals (hogs, cattle, or horses) this is easy.

Yes, it's a tired, old, worn out, '16 Sonic, 6spd, turbo, running high mileage, highway tires, and 165,000 on the odo. But it was the most fun I've had with my clothes on in years. Railed it hard, rarely out of second gear, from 1000rpm to redline and back almost as fast as you could blink. To quote the kid next door in "The Incredibles", "That was totally wicked". I may just have to do it again. Tail of the Dragon 2021, anniversary edition.TotD A.jpgTotD B.jpg

Funny you mention riding your Harley through there. I ended up behind a dresser and we were fairly well matched. And RJ, if you're ever in the area, you really should make it a priority to run it.
