The train driving ones or the slide rule ones.................

Hang on for the repercussions for that.......:scared::rocketwho:yikes:

As an engineer (the slide rule type), and a ex-professional mechanic, I can easily say there are too many of my brethren that are so dumb, you wonder if they're brain dead.
I think you guys meant enginears........

I didn't think you had any kids, S. That is truly a dad joke.

I work in the toolroom for a hydraulic valve and manifold company, producing prototype parts and assembly jigs, been here 26+ years.
Every year we get engineering interns over the summer ,then spend the winter undoing some of their great ideas. So I work with essentially
the rawest, to staff up to Doctors of hydraulics, and I can fully agree with you that ALL of them have some harebrained ideas at times........

American Airlines *****!!!!!!!!!!!!! Their customer service *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DFW Airport *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every flight I've been on into or out of Texas has been a total mess. This time they change the gate with less than an hour until boarding starts, with no text, no phone call, no change on the big board, and no announcement at the gate. "It's your fault because you didn't check our website 15 minutes before boarding". "Everyone else made the flight". Umm, no they didn't. There were 4 of us not checking our cell phones like hawks, but I was the only one who had a connecting flight.

On the other hand, Hilton Garden Inn in DC ROCKS!!!!!!! Somebody give my man Efrem Yohannes a raise. He listened to me whine, gave me a free Diet, free TV dinner, and moved my check out time to 2 pm. They weren’t big things, but to an old man who had been treated like a pile of dung, who’d had no dinner, and at 11:30 at night, it was all I needed. Thanks Efrem. Hilton, your man lived up to the promise you posted in my room.Hilton GI Rocks 1.jpgHilton GI Rocks 2.jpgHilton GI Rocks 3.jpg

A good way to show appreciation is to write a nice letter on how he went out of his way for you to the general manager and to CC corporate district manager and may be CEO.
I've done it!
Done. I also posted this on IG and FB. A friend from high school is married to a high ranking Hilton person, saw this on FB and this is passed on.
There is no way I would fly anywhere right now. Sounds like you need to rent a car one way.
I went to Texas for work, not because I like Texas. Actually, flying into and out of Texas has always been a terrible train wreck.

As stated, I went to Texas for work, so today was the first day I really had a pick up where I had originally left off. I wish I had opened this up yesterday. Your banter was good for a chuckle. Maybe I should have saved it for this evening. Headed to a funeral visitation this afternoon. A cousin of Robin's passed away suddenly due Covid issues. He was mentally challenged, and like most mentally challenged people I've met, he was a super nice person. I'm guessing mid-forties. The world is a poorer place for his passing. Catch you on the flip side Larry.

What the heck? Is there a black cloud following me? On the way to the funeral visitation yesterday, the Sonic decided to spring a leak. Did an on-line request to AAA Roadside Assistance. Was told that assistance would arrive at 50 minutes later. After waiting an hour and a half, Robin called AAA to find what the issue was. We were informed there was an issue with how their system recorded the address we were at, and it had been corrected. Half hour later, still nothing. I called them, and was on hold for 25 minutes. 10 minutes later I was told they had just secured a towing company, and they hopefully should arrive in an hour. 2½ hours sitting in a broke down car to be told I’ll have to wait another hour? AAA Roadside Assistance *****!!!!!!!! UHaul dolly for the win today. How do rich people who don't know how to use real tools live?

To be honest, it's been an uphill battle all summer. New rear wheel bearing going bad the first trip out. No one to clear stumps. Both cylinder heads cracking the same way on the GF. Sickle mower croaking 30 feet (9m) from finishing the last field. Broken tractor window......... It's life, moan about it a little, take a deep breath, take a hand up when it's offered (thank you Efrem), get back on your feet and keep trucking. Know that meme about "every 15 minute job is just one broken bolt from becoming an ordeal"? Pics to follow tomorrow.

AAA *****. We had them for a while, and I used them twice to unlock my truck ( an old truck had a short in the door lock and would randomly lock itself). They canceled my plan because I used it too much.

With us, they usually are great (say 80% of the time), and we use them enough to make it worth it. But when they miss, they're not even close. Daughter put her car in the ditch one winter night. "We can't pull her out unless a police report is filed". I've used them twice before this year. Filed the request, call back and ETA within 5 minutes, not 2 1/2 hours.

Welcome to Shadetree Hemp, Engineering, Customs, Towing, and Vehicle Repair. “Every ten minute job is one busted bolt away from becoming a huge ordeal”. Removing the coolant outlet when this guy decided to take a break, literally. Had to use the blue flame wrench to get it out. Pretty worried about melting things while down in there. Replaced the rear wiper arm on Squirt Squared too. While I was at it, replaced a busted plate light on the pickup and got the cable for the backup camera ran to the back. Hope to finish both vehicles today. Shadetree auto service & towing.jpgcoolant outlet 1.jpgCO misery.jpgplate light.jpg

Ok, that kicked my ****. Went and got our first shingles vaccine. Robin laid down the first day for a couple of hours. I was fine until 8:34 pm (shots were at 10:30 that morning), then it hit me HARD. Fever, sinus headache, body aching. Yesterday, tired all day, small fever last night, body aching. Still compared to what my BiL, co-worker, and dad tell me, it's a small price to pay. Co-worker actually had it in his eye. Arm is still a little sore.

Neither shingles shot bothered me other than a sore arm at the injection site.
Donna on the other hand had flu like symptoms, and was pretty sick for 24 hours or so each time.

I had shingles a couple of years ago and I can tell you they are no fun, If I had a choice I would take a full blown case of the flu before the shingles. I have a prescription for my shot and one for pneumonia that the Doc. gave me last month when I got my physical, I'm just waiting for the right time to go get them.

Yeah. It was just a bad case of the flu, but for only 24hrs. Sounds like even though I was sick, it's a whole lot better than getting the shingles.
