You know that moment you dread having to fire up the mill or lathe to make that special part or tool? Yeah, neither do I. Called Alro and they had my aluminum block waiting for me. This is the height gauge for setting the pressure plate on Claudia (’46 Cletrac Crawler). Now I just have to wait for reasonable weather and daylight to finish putting the assembly in to the dozer.

Only if you can find them when you need them........

I do pretty good with the tools. But parts, not so much.

Good one.
Nothing like having the right tool,
Or the tool to make the right tool.

Every once in a while, things go correctly. Unlike tonight when the blue flame wrench couldn't break loose the bleeder on a rear caliper of the F-150.

Now you know why I had to document it here. You saw the pictures. But does it still count if it's to fix something that did go wrong? Like having a bulldozer for less than a month, then having that part go bad?

Life is so nice when you have the right tools
Its not only having the right tools sometimes its knowing how to use them though is the real trick. Most time's I end up trying the wrong tools to make the things go wright! Its take special skill then or just plain darn stubberness!!!

Good work regarless.

I wonder why the fuel rail wouldn’t sit down on the injectors. Aren't doubled o-rings supposed to seal better? :lol_hitti Looks like it’s time for an engine break in.

I've done the oil filter once, cost the dealership I worked at an engine. Lesson learned on that one. May you, Pat and the rest of your family be blessed during the holidays.

Strouty beat me by a couple of weeks, but I'm finally ready for winter. It took another 40yds. of fill sand to make the parking lot usable. We’ve put in over 500yds in the driveway, She Shed site, and the parking lot. I’m guessing another 150-200yds of topping to finish everything………..next spring.

And Smooth is finally up and running. I’m only 5 years late on the delivery. Promised it to her for high school graduation, and she just finished her last class for her Bachelor’s. Still has a lot of little things that need to be done, but it moves under its own power, and after sitting on jack stands for the last +7 years, is no longer a permanent fixture in the shop.Graduation present.jpg

Congrats on getting a project done! Quick trip to a car wash and it will be good to go. Does she like it?
It needs a lot more than a good wash, but the goal line is in sight. She told me she wanted it back when she was in the 9th grade, so she's happy.

For those who are following along, getting "Smooth" out is the biggest domino that needed to fall in order to get the big boy in. Now I can finish the ceiling insulation. Once that's done, then the big boy gets a cab separation, and the Girlfriend's cab comes in for body work and prep

Just like the shirt/sticker says “**** happens“ and got in the way of finishing it..... just needed a little time to devote to it, job well done.

Next job’s turn......
