Glad you are getting that cabinet up, every square inch helps. I have been adding shelves in my main shop and have sorted almost all of the **** that was on the floor.
You wouldn't recognize the place!
You are probably going to need to get some sonotube for them holes

Isn't it nice when you start getting room to work? Almost like a slice of heaven. As far as sonotubes, the holes are poured, just waiting another week or two before I throw the poles into them. I'd like to get the poles and trusses up before the end of February, but I'm guessing I'll be lucky to have it done by the end of April.

Here’s a pic of the cabinet about 95% done. Since the doors are only 1/4”, the screws stick out. I’ll end up using some machine screws and nuts to finish this project. And no, I’m not going to finish sand it, I’ve got more important things to do, like insulation and fleet repairs.

Kirk,
For the nuts use acorn nuts with a finish the same as the hinges.
It will dress the doors up, and make it look like it was designed that way.

I was wondering how on earth you were going to be digging holes in this weather but sounds like they are already done. Its -21 here this morning so lots of frost in the ground now.

I didn't dig the actual holes, I paid the neighbor. He came down with skid steer that has a hole drilling attachment. Same neighbor we rented the mini-excavator from, He has 8", 12", 16", 24", and 36" augers for it. Charged $10 a hole. I'll never dig another post hole again. My issue was they kept collapsing, and that's what I'd have to dig out.

um is it bad of me to think of April of which year for this? 22? 23? I'm putting money on year 2024! They'll all be set and well cured by then!

I make no promises, though I do appreciate HJ's confidence in me. Right now, I think I'm suffering from the same disease Strouty is, except I'm like 15 years older than he is.

Only 15??? ;)

I am willing to bet on 2022 as well, we both have been doing better, gotta have some faith.
I feel like I'm at least 236 years older. I am doing a little better, but only because I'm not bringing in any new projects outside my current plan, and limiting what SWMBO puts on my plate. New things are coming in, but they're either repairs and maintenance on existing items, or they were part of the original plan. But I'm slowing down. I need to find motivation.

I think that's what's known as seasonal affective disorder. It's quite common in northern places of Canada and Alaska where they only get 4 or 5 hours of daylight in the winter. I think they say to take vitamin D to help with it but I'm not exactly sure. But I think a lack of motivation/ambition is something most people experience in the winter. I certainly am; theres probably stuff I could do but I'm perfectly happy to sit inside when its -20 outside and play with my little girl.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if I was you. Some people can go non stop 24/7/365, but most people need a break every now and then to rest. Your a busy guy with a lot on your plate, don't be afraid to take some rest before you burnout. The projects aren't going anywhere.

JGJ, I get the SAD thing. I don't think that's the issue. I think it's more a case of mental burnout. But the bigger issue is getting most everything cleared so I can finally get to doing what I want. And there's a sense of urgency, because of my age. I'm now to a point where having the time left to do those things is quickly running out. I'm not being a Debbie Downer, just being realistic. I have about 6, maybe 8ish years left to do some of the things I like, before my physical strength to do them is gone. Meatloaf was 14 years older than I am, Louie Anderson was 8 years. A couple of more years and the statistics start stacking against me quickly. Then again, I may live another 30+ years. This is reality, and I embrace it.

Kirk we need to work on this, we both could get so much more done if it wernt for all of the interuptions.
I saw a Nephew today, he was telling about this fabulous deal he got on a box scrape, in the same breath he asked if he could bring it over for me to straighten the three point attachments that were bent. He's going to be upset with me.

One of the things I am going to enjoy the.most about moving is rather very few people will know where I live anymore. Only a select few will be let in on the secret, the select few who don't show up and waste my time.

HJ, unfortunately it's my wife who keeps adding to the list. I've been doing manual labor for 50 years. I started putting up hay when I was ten, I'm getting tired. 6ish years ago I told her I wanted to start winding down all the big projects. The next year she said I want to put a porch on the front of the house. Ok, it needs it, because the front of the house is UGLY. The next year it became a 30' addition to the living room and kitchen. Then it was start the hemp business. Then two years ago, it was add a bump out to the existing bathroom and bedroom. With us doing all the work. Now she wants to expand the scope of the business to manufacture paper or fabric out of the hemp. Me, I just want to get the place respectable, help a few friends once in a while, and enjoy life.

Problem is they know me and my ocd. I cant do halfassed even when I try.
I just need to turn into one of those belligerent old jerks that people try to avoid.
Pat and I had a talk and she gets it, she trimmed some things off of her wish list and said we finish what we have started and that's it.

Yeah, especially since I'm hoping we can use it to take the Sonic to Texas, along with the grille surround and new roll pan for it, so that my son can paint them.

Man those pics bring back some memories. My first truck was a 1997 F-150 regular cab shortbox, 4.2L V6 with a 5 speed manual. That was a good truck for a high school student; nice enough looking yet not enough power to get into trouble lol. But that interior was very comfy. IMO probably the best Ford interior in the last 25 years.

Good job on getting some items ticked off the to do list K.

I still think it's the best looking Ford truck since the mid-seventies. And everything since is yuck. It's taken a back seat to some more shop tasks, but it's still a high priority.

When are you going to Texas and what area.
I have family in Brownsville. The rich uncle that doesn't know me.

Not exactly sure when, probably late spring. My son lives in Killeen, not far from Fort Hood.

The Flying Wallenda’s have nothing on me. Since the S’crew is now a semi-permanent (not permanent) fixture in the shop, I could finally get around to “finishing” the insulation. All but the last strip is done (it’s odd sized and there too much in the way). With the initial layer. Most of what’s up there is R-19. The plan is to add another layer of R-19 over what’s there, next year.

You are a much braver man than me. There's no force on this earth that could get me up on those planks. :shocking:

What do you heat your shop with?
