After we were done planting and M&D’s, we loaded the planter and his plow onto the gooseneck. It’s very convenient that their yard is incredibly steep next to the road. Just pull along the front yard, throw down two 2”x6”x8’ and back the planter on. Getting it off, I tried to channel my inner Uncle Willie. Brought the plow home to fix the colters.20220618_185138[1].jpg20220623_190021[1].jpg

Quite the ingenious setup there to get the planter off.

A couple of homestead milestones. Momma’s ducks had 7 little ones, but two didn’t make it past the 2nd day. These guys are about 75% feathers now, not much down left. And I finally got around to cutting the grass at the front around July 10th. It was almost waist high. It was 3 pickup loads of clippings and it was still 6” high. It took 3 more cuttings using the neighbor’s zero turn before I got it down enough to be able to use our fixed deck (3” height) to mow it. That was last week.'22 ducks.jpg'22 ducks B.jpg20220629_160909[1].jpg20220629_160900[1].jpg20220630_090317[1].jpg20220710_093757[1].jpg

Was the semi self driving?

Kudos on the certified Shorty’s way of offloading heavy objects. One tip, those spikes at the end of the ramps are tripping hazards 🤣

I quack myself up.

You got me beat in the tall grass department. I have nothing to complain about if I’m away and mine get 4-5” high. Good idea on the desk build. And if the meetings are boring that shade tree with engine hanging can make you think of funner times after the meetings are done! Nice bit of artwork there.

Nice car show pics thanks for sharing with us!

Yeah, I'm still trying to get all of the grass trimming under control. Thanks for the compliment. It fits here, not the best, but good enough for this place

Looks like you were busy while I was dying, it's good to see progress and I'm jealous of the ducks, all of those I put in the incubator wernt fertile, I had a talk with that drake! Wont have to worry about him anymore, a hawk got him last week.

I'm trying to keep things moving forward. Harvest is coming up soon, and I'm still behind.

Cool Cars

Sub, JCC, for a small town and a week night, it's decent turn out. Not as big a show as Westphalia (in a good year the number of cars is higher than the town's population), but still a pretty good turn out and decent quality.

Which brings me to my present mess, drywall on the east wall of the shop. That gets me 3 or the 4 walls finished. Don’t hire me to do your drywall work, it took me about 2 weeks to do the mud and sand. Prime/paint went up in 3 days. The main reason I did this was I wanted to put up a shelf above the surface plate, and put a chair rail/narrow shelf around half of the shop. I’ll finish the south wall drywall, paint, chair rail, and trim all the windows some other time. But now the east wall is done, time to get the shop usable again.primered wall.jpgprimered wall 2.jpgpainted east wall 3.jpgchair rail 2.jpgsurface plate shelf.jpg

Looks real good,

Thank you, Sir.

More of that white K5 😍

The pallet wood and rustic tin 👍

Just so I know you're on the right page, the blue shelf/chair rail is the pallet wood, and the other wood is cedar siding from a collapsed horse barn
About time you stopped being lazy, and got back to work on the shop.

I'm a slacker, I know. Once things are back in order, I can finally start using it again.

I went to the Oakley Tractor show this past weekend. The thing was MASSIVE. There must have been 20 acres of campers/trailers, 40-50 acres of cars, and about 30-40 acres of tractors and engines. Not many steam tractors. Never heard of many of the Marques. The gent in the picture is a small local farmer (tills about 200 acres) who has an incredible knowledge about IH/Farmall, John Deere, Massey Harris, Ford, and Ferguson tractors. It’s fun when you go to a show with someone like that who can educate you on the intricacies and quirks of something.20220820_141819[1].jpg20220820_141957[1].jpg20220820_142012[1].jpg20220820_142208[1].jpg20220820_142239[1].jpg20220820_142402[1].jpg20220820_142606[1].jpg20220820_142837[1].jpg20220820_142844[1].jpg20220820_143019[1].jpg

I love tractor shows, we are having our annual car show Sept 17th and we invited a local tractor club to attend this year, I'm hoping for a big turnout.
I am glad you are getting your shop together, it makes getting other projects done quicker and easier. Keep going buddy!

Is was very cool. Still, I'm way behind you on the show front.
Some very nice stuff at that show! That Oliver row crop 77

The shop is looking very nice too! I'm a little jealous that you'll have a finished shop soon.
Thank you. But it won't be finished anytime in the next year. The south wall will probably be way down the list.

I love rural car shows where people bring all kinds of cool stuff, not just cars. And yes, getting your stuff organized makes things go so much faster.
That Diamond REO is nice looking, the Blazer is nice as well, should have been blue though. ;)
That REO is right around the corner from me, at one of the local excavator/grass air fields.

It gives off what a typical living room light stand does. And you see it's really close to my "office chair". I did cut most of the bottom out. Still looking for a nice looking wheel to use as a base.
