I can't remember who's thread I saw it on, but using 2 2x4 spacers attached either side perpendicular to and halfway up the rafter portions of the truss. Size the spacer length for the spacing between trusses and attach blocks to the header to keep the truss within a few inches of home on the header both sides. If you then prop up the peak to above horizontal and then use the rope and pully to bring it to vertical. The spacer is then attached to the previous truss to automatically space it out. With the spacer and attaching the truss at the header at the correct spacingAttach the truss and move on to th next. You will need to lift the last few without spacers or attaching them, or you may not have enough space up on the headers.

Lotusnut, I think you have the winner. I was thinking something along that line, but your comment is making the picture clearer in my head.

Sub, It's going ok. Lots of drizzle and rain, so not much happening with the She Shed. I've been cleaning the Hack Shack. Talk about a total mess.

Back to the ’71 CL350, in the moments when I have a couple of minutes of down time, I’ve been cleaning the chrome as best as I can. This will never get a full restoration, it’s just not worth it to me, but I will replace some of the worst pieces. I did have to replace both coils and the condenser. I haven’t been able to get the side cover off, so the points may stay for a bit.ft fender 1.jpgrr fender 2.jpgCoil.jpg

Man, with the current price of steel I think that deserves a "you ****!" I'd love to have some more steel around for projects but there's no way I'm buying any unless I need it.

The Old Man is the king of reuse/repurpose/scrap. I usually get at least 3-4 calls a month asking "Do you want....." The previous was a 1x8x7". Great shelf material. This load is all light weight stuff, but I've already used a bunch of it.

I wish you guys were closer, I have sent more steel to the scrap yard than imaginable, still have tons more, most of it galvanized, but lots of steel.

Just a little fyi, I have been seeing a lot of people starting to use hemp instead of shavings for there chickens, less dust, less respiratory issues. I wanted to make sure you knew about it!

I’m using some of that steel I got cleaned to make shelf brackets/ledges.
shelf bkt 1.jpg
I made 6 brackets to store the Radio Flyer tubs on (need to make 2 more).

Then I made 3 little ones to hold up the shelf over the surface plate.

I’ve been waiting for this to happen ever since I set up my machining area. It feels good to finally have a permanent home for this stuff.

Hows the Trusses placing going? Most people due that type work in Nice weather and not winter but I guess with Xtremek you just go and build when you want regardless of weather.

In all fun I due hope your making good progress!

354 days till next year "she shed counter" or something like that! LOL

Ouch :lol_hitti

I'm out of excuses, so hopefully the weather is reasonable (no high winds, rain, or heavy snow) this weekend and I'll start putting up the first "real" truss.

When you are as tough as an old yeller toe nail you dont worry about weather and little things like that, you just geter done!
Xtremek not that tough from the way back on page 1. There have been Multiple ER room visit all scattered threw this. Though I don't recall any Frost Bite or Hypotherma instances yet.

Since it is dark when I quit working for a paycheck, it’s QST. Been putzing on the CL350, went to pull the carbs off, and all the fuel lines snapped. Should I try to save them? Anyway, here’s the inside of the first carb. Cleaned everything up with spray can carb cleaner.

Stink bug???
We call them "Roberts" here, named after someone we know that is a stinky person. :ROFLMAO:
I can't come up with a retort.

They're Box Elder bugs. These don't smell, and are either incredibly friendly, or have no fear of humans. Fortunately, most stink bugs stay away from me. And yes, I really do try to treat them like pets.

That carb deserves a soaking in carb cleaner basket.
