Anyone else a true Garage guy out there?

Take last night as a case in point, with the Super Bowl was on and I went to a part over at my buddies place. As usual there where actually two parties. One in the house with all the wives and kids, and one in the garage with the guys. I find myself being ridiculed that I tend not to frequent the house part enough. Actually I got there and headed into the garage right off the bat. It wasn't untill everyone left to get the food in the house, that I decided to say hello to everyone else in the house. And only for a short time.

I don't know anout the rest of you guys out there, but I feel like I am intruding into others lives when I vist people inside their houses. I am not a couch/chair person at all. The last time I sat in mine was over 3 weeks ago. I was to sit down and watch a kids movie with the kids. Other than that if I watch TV it's in my garage in my enviroment/room.

I guess you could chaulk this up to my kids driving me from my TV room, but truely it was never my room to begin with. I hate being indoors. I work in cubical hell without even a window. When I get home I don't want to be inside ever. I love being outside, or in the garage with all the doors and windows open.

My point is this, how many others out there are like me. A true Garage guy or girl. If I visit true freinds, I rather do it informally on their decks or in their garages. I don't need to see the inside of anyones house, don't care what it looks like in there or how they ahave furnished them. Show me your garage, I'm interested if you get some new tool or apeice of equiment. I love talking about work and tools and mechanical things. I like spending time in the time honored place where I don't have to watch what I say, or worry about what is on my feet. Where I am judged on the stains on my work coat and can be proud of them!

That is me, a gagrage guy! Proud of it!

Anyone else like this out there?

Just like me. I hate being indoors. I can't stand it. I have been "cabined" up more recently because of my 10 month old daughter, and I try to help out with house chores. But every chance I get, I go do something. I never really like TV. We don't even have cable or anything like that. We are not technology retarded, ipads, iphones laptops, all that that, even 60" TV, which we really only use to watch some movie on Blue Ray.

I just can't stand being inside. Football game, what football game. I went to the garage at 2pm. Put my car up on ramps, and decided to swap out my endlinks, then dropped the engine guard and tried to find what I else I need to plan for. Just for the hell of it, I made a slim box end wrench to hold the endlinks. 15 min at the grinder and I made myself a new tool. I got back into the house just in time to see the Giants win.

And yes, finding guys with similar attitude, as far as being outdoors is hard. I really don't have any friends that would rather do something physical outside or stay inside and play the Wii.

I think most guys on this board are probably like that. At every family party I've ever been to, the guys head to the garage or the basement and the gals gather in the kitchen.

Just to chime in again, They actually made my entering the house a bet. They broke it into time slots of how long after I got there I would enter the house reguardless of the reason I was entering. Someone won 25 bucks off it.

I don't care for either team that played last night and it was the only day of my days off that I got the chance to spend time in my garage. So, I worked on building my new work bench. When I did come in the game had just finished... I'll have to post some pics later tonight maybe.

I have at least 5 or 6 friends who I have known for years, been in their garages countless times, couldn't tell you anything about the inside of their houses...

Up here where I live, The guys usually gather in the kitchen. It's closer to the food! None of my buddies have garages either. I spent yesterday teaching my 5 year old how to pass a puck on the lake and the evening working on my sled in the garage.

:headscrat Hum , i dont have a garage, but i do have a storage unit, i made into a sorta a garage and spend most of my time there tinkering on thing's, but yes i'm a big time outdoor person, if i stay indoors i know i'll throw one these :tantrum2: , but i try too get outside much as i can, theres a trail right next to my apt, 7 miles too downtown or 7 miles the other way to the state park, so i go too state park and bring my camera, getting new screen savers of birds and the boats on the river ,as i walk the 7 miles one way, and back, other wise i go stir crazy :willy_nil and 7 cups of coffee does not help ether, but i'm trying to find something too do in the winter , when cabin fever sets in. :dunno:

Some times I just go out and sit there and do nothing. My cave as my wife calls it. Tunes, Tools and a cold one can make me a happy guy.

Last night the gathering was at my place. The guys all spent the first half of the game drinking beer in the garage while watching the game on the 40" LCD, frying up wings in the turkey fryer (outside of the garage) and talking cars, snowmobiles and such. Then we went in and ate and finished the game with the ladies.

My garage is a shop, not a living room. I don't have a t.v. out there, the grinding dust alone would kill it quick. I enjoy spending time out there but it is not a lounge. That is what the living room is for. I enjoy hanging out with people in the garage but I typically start fiddling with something.

I think by garage you more or less mean man cave. A place to hid away from the women folk. I do not need that. But I do find an excuse to work on something out in the garage when the wife has her sister over. :)
