I'm about to starting hanging insulation and hopefully drywall not long after in my rewired shop. It dawned on me that I may want to check my electrical before I do that.

So I am curious do the professionals do anything after wiring a house or shop? Do they check each circuit to make sure they are wired properly? If so how do they check it? Visual, voltmeter, one of those plug in do dads?

I checked all mine with a plug in do dad, then laod tested with a space heater. Not sure if that's the right way to do things but that's how I did it almost 4 years ago.

I’m close to the same point (finally!). I intend to use a GFCI outlet tester on all my gfi outlets, then verify actual voltage with a multimeter (including 240v outlets).

That's good. Most would just do the plug in tester. If doing the heater I would add a meter for voltage at the outlet you are checking to verify the voltage drop with the heater load. The plug checks correct connections. The heater/voltmeter checks for poor connections.
