I am about to start a stick built garage on a very limited space. Due to lot restrictions the garage can only be 23 feet side. As of right now I am going with a 23x50 building with a 12x50 second floor for storage or a shop. I am trying to store a motor home and boat in the back with two cars in front. I am thinking of going with a 18 foot wide single door that is 14 foot tall to help with maneuvering the motor home into the back corner. Looking for any and all ideas, Do's and Dont's, things you wish you would have done etc....

Make sure you pay attention to building shear resistance on the endwall with the garage door. 23' wide with an 18' opening leaves 2-1/2' per side.

As far as the rest of it, I would spend several days researching the forum, going back 1 page at a time and click on threads you think are related to your build or interesting. You will learn a lot!
