I use one a lot, both at work and home shop. At work we have a Makita 14" which works well other than it gets abused by my co-workers who hammer the $hit out of it. I had a Ryobi at home for about 4 years that worked well until I wore it out. It was a good unit for the money. I now have a Milwaukee 6180-20 which works fantastic. I have had it for about 4 years now and is hands down the best abrasive chop saw I have used. I like the adjustable vise for different angles. It adjusts quickly and accurately (more so than the Ryobi or Makita). I have cut a lot of steel with it and would highly recommend it. I would like to someday have a cold saw but they take up a little more space but this saw works great. Mike.

I have a Milwakee from home depot, and I love it.

Before that I had a cheap one from Princess Auto (like Harbour Freight). It was a little under powered and weak, but suprisingly lasted for about 4 or 5 years of hard use and abuse, til the brushes went in the motor. My dad put new brushes in it when I bought the Milwakee, and uses my old one in his shop still.

There are carbide blades for chopsaws.

Yes.

I have one. A dry cut Makita.

The Makita spins at ~2500 RPM.

An abrasive chop saw spins at ~3900 RPM.

That's the issue. Put the blade from the Makita on a regular chop saw... and there could be some fun happening, as the blade is rated at 2500 RPM.

No, you don't have one. Let me say it again...THERE ARE CARBIDE BLADES FOR CHOP SAWS. I was NOT talking about dry-cut saws. I have a dry cut saw, I know what they are, thanks.

I've got a HF Chicago Electric Professional chop saw that I've used multiple times a day for 3 years without issue. It's black and gray in color and does everything I could ask of it.
