Has anyone used the small portable scales to charge cars? My charging station has died and there are no parts for it. Can't afford a new station right now.

I need to know how much refrigerant I am putting in a car. Too much room for error with guages plus I need to know how much to charge for refrigerant.

hvacR tech here. Portable scale is all I use. You do have to make sure the manifold gauges, scale and tank do not get bumped/moved while charging or the reading will be off. Always weight the tank before and after to confirm how much refrigerant you used.

If you are patient you can use a bathroom scale. The downside is they don’t count down. You have to constantly lift the bottle and re weight it as you charge

Fieldpiece, Testo, Tiff all make good scales that are accurate to 1/10 ounce. Make sure they are on a stable base and the tank and hose don't get changed and you will be fine. Most are less than $200 last time I looked. You can also find them on FB or Ebay for less. Some of them are wireless and others such as Fieldpiece will communicate with their manifold set and show readings on gauge set.

I've used the Robinair TIF9010 for years scale works well, only issue is no auto shut down so if you don't remember to turn it off keep a supply of 9v batteries :)
With newer cars using less then 1lb today and some only specing Kg the ability to switch between lb and kg is nice.
