Just moved and noticed the 2 AC condensation lines are tied together, I think there suppose to be separate with there own P traps? Is my planned set up ok in the pic? The line goes about 14' to the right of the picture - straight out the side of the house and 90* down to the dirt, I plan to run the secondary line right along side the primary. Anything I need to make sure of so I don't create a situation where the water in the P trap gets sucked dry in one direction or the other?

Curious. Are you sure thats not a vent? If it does get condensate in it it likely should have a trap as well so air doesn't bypass.

Two condensate lines tied together is a bad idea because if the line after the two tie together stop up wet ceiling. A pan under the complete unit is want is needed 4" tall with a float switch that shuts the ac off when water builds in the pan.

You don't tie the secondary drain into the primary. The secondary isn't always trapped, and in all honesty, I'm not sure if it's required to be trapped by code. As fitter30 stated, you also need an emergnecy pan under that unit. Pipe the secondary so it drains into the emergency pan, then run the pan drail out so it is visible from a window if it's draining.

My HVAC contractor added an alarm at his expense when the condensate built up faster than the drain emptied the pan. He also sent out a drywall and painting contractor to repair the ceiling.

He will get the next HVAC job I have to pay for.
