Hey everyone. Ok I just bought a Fluke 88v/a kit and been using it and loving it. But now I want to get a current clamp for it, but don't know which one to get. They have The I410 and the I1010. The I410 measure's up to 400 amps and the I1010 measures up to 1000 amps. But I don't know what range I would need measure up to. :shocking:

This is going to be for automotive use.

The highest current draw you will measure is starter current. The 400 amp model is big enough.

I would assume that the 400 amps one would do the trick, especially on a car. Although, if the 1000 amps one doesn't loose any resolution at lower levels, and you don't mind paying for it, I'd get that one just to have the ability to measure that high.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Cause I was just wondering if anyone has seen over 400 amps on a car or truck. Even with a bad starter and maybe a higher compression motor.
