AC Hydraulics DK20 vs DK13HLQ

Trying to decide between these two fine jacks. Both low profile, excellent quality and expensive! As far as I can see, the DK20 can lift more (4400 pounds vs 2900 pounds) but the DK13HLQ is longer, has a higher lift (29" vs 20") and can reach deeper. The DK13HLQ is also lot more expensive.

Anybody have a preference between the two? Would you pay the extra cost for the DK13HLQ?

First things first- have you found anyone in the US who claims to have them in stock???

I guess the answer to your question depends alot on personal preference and what you actually plan to use the jack to lift.........

I'm in Canada and they are available in town so I am going to look at both models tomorrow. The DK13HLQ is $300-$400 more expensive than the DK20 so I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the cost. Granted, these jacks are overpriced now (as opposed to even 3-4 years ago).

Since it will be a long term investment, I'm trying to think of my needs (not just now but down the road). The main hesitation I have with the DK13HLQ (aside from the cost) is the fact that it is limited to 2900 pounds, which may or may not be an issue for most cars.

A word of advice.......if you've got a sports car or any lowered vehicle, do not get the DK20HLQ.......stick with the DK13HLQ or DK20Q. Its disturbing that the only North American distributor would not ask you about vehicles and clearance issues. SD

thanks - I ended up getting the DK13HLQ. I compared it to the DK20 and I prefer the length and the lifting height of the DK13HLQ. The only negatives are that it costs more and it doesn't have the same lift capacity but 2900 lbs should be sufficient for my needs.

........but both use the same hydraulic cylinder. They have to derate the weight capacity due to the geometry and lift height of the DK13 vs DK20. The DK13HLQ is the more unique jack and will command a higher resale price if you ever decide to get rid of it. SD

Great! Thanks for that tidbit :) I'm really happy with my DK13HLQ and I agree - if I ever decide to sell it, it would have better resale value...however, I plan on keeping it for a long time
