***group buy closed***

Not a hot deal, but these don’t usually go on sale, so it’s a rare discount on an expensive jack from a reputable supplier. 10% off their list price through 2/17. An extended reach DK13HLQ is $549 before discount. Discounted shipping rates also apply (not eligible for free shipping due to weight). A 100lb jack going to the opposite coast was just over $50. They have already met their group buy minimum.

Instructions here for those who are interested.

I have a 15+ year old DK20. It’s a first rate jack, but yes, they are $$$.

Thank you! I've long coveted an AC Hydraulics

What I've read in the past is their country's safety rules require under-rating considerably? Thus something claimed to be 2T for them might be considered a 3T for us (values strictly for example purposes only!!!!) ??

Damn I really want the extended reach but I rarely lift anything less than a 4wd F150...and quite often CCLB F350.

I'm just wondering if the extended reach would be of much use. I think they're more intended for lightweight foreign cars. But damn it's cool.

The DK20HLQ is intended for large SUV’s and trucks. 31.5” max height and 4400lbs. But an F350, as long as you’re lifting a corner and not the entire front end, it should be within its weight limit, no?

I don’t know about them underrating the limits as much as Chinese brands overrating the limits. My DK20 and Harbor Freight aluminum jack are both rated at 4000 lbs. I’ll bet money one of those jacks gives up the ghost if I push it that far. Any guesses which one? :)

But yes, their market here has been built on cars with low ground clearance and some of those with center lift points requiring the extended reach if you don’t want to mess around with ramps and other things that obstruct the locations where the jack stands need to be placed. Typically those cars are under 4000 lbs, so lifting the front end would still be within the 2800 limit of the DK13HLQ.

I have had an AC DK20Q for about 15 or more years, it is an excellent jack. I wish I can find a long reach one within my budget. Thanks for sharing :)

Ok you're correct RKA, thank you! I had mentally blinded myself to the DK20HLQ due to the $750 price LOL

SOOO....as is all too often the case NOW I want the most expensive one (exasperated sigh LOL)

And yeah, my CCLB is ~8100 curb weight as I have it loaded (I hit the scales at the scrap yard fairly regularly) so 4400# would surely lift the entire rear but likely only one front corner at a time given weight bias.

And my rumors of under-rating may simply have been based on a metric ton vs "our" ton. OTOH I wouldn't put it past the Danes to build in some ridiculous 6:1 safety factor ;)

However the "2 ton" 4400# jacks allegedly only weigh 61#. Most 3Ts here are heavier than that, so I'm guessing ratings are more or less accurate. Now shear amount of steel isn't the only factor - I'm sure the AC Hydraulics' hydraulics are of greater quality...and I'd guess more floor jack failures are due to seals than to the jack just folding over on itself.

^ If you visit AC Hydraulics website you will see that they make all kinds of jacks that maybe better suited to your application however, I am not sure if they would be available here in the US.

http://www.ac-hydraulic.dk/us/

That's the last thing I need. I'm in Ecuador and trying to figure out how to fit one of these little Chok G2 electric SUV's in my luggage.... :D

So just an FYI, MDS (Mobile Distributor Supply) claims to have (at least some of) these in stock.

Prices are a bit higher but they offer free shipping and no tax, and with SHOP10 I got 10% off.

Basically Pelican would have wanted $98 in tax and shipping (unk if tax would have dropped a few bucks once I had Pelican's discount code) putting the DK20HLQ at $773

Or MDS was $800 less 10%, period, making it $720

So I ordered thru MDS and many of us know them to be reputable.

Impossible to tell exactly what tractor this is, and granted it's only lifting a corner but that's not a lightweight piece of ag equipment. Kind of a cool shot of the DK20HLQ

.

Same situation. I have a Diesel Excursion and curb weight WITHOUT diesel is 8600 lbs and then add on 44 gallons of diesel. This could easily lift the rear but the front would be the question

Once it comes in I'll post up if it can in fact lift the entire front from the axle tube. By all rights it shouldn't be expected to...

Another place to check is RM European in CO. They had the best price when I bought mine and shipping was free

Thanks Steve! Have you used them regularly? Did the jack arrive well packed? I saw they had the DK13 for about $470 shipped back around the holidays when they emailed a rare 5% coupon. Now it’s high enough that I would rather deal with Pelican for a few bucks more. I also found some discouraging reviews about their poor customer service, which is what deterred me. I did place my first order with them recently for some low dollar car parts and that was flawless. The follow up email I received requesting I write a review had some broken code that appeared as plain text, which also raised some concern. Now I see they have the AC engine hoist for far less than anyone else. I have pelican checking on the price, but I doubt they will come close to RME.

On a related note, does anyone happen to have alternative recommendations for a cherry picker that folds up to a 16x16 foot print? Needs to have a 700lb capacity when the arm is fully extended and a 90” max height?

I've got the 20 and the 13HLQ. 20 get;s the most use these days, until I need to work on the garage queen, where the low profile is where it's win.

Don't forget to add the rubber saddle and they also make a nice T-Bar for a decent price

Never heard of RM European thanks guys!

They've got a great price on the DK20HLQ at $655. I could pick up but I'd probably be on the hook for tax putting it around $700 OTD. Their website reflects an odd $200 fee for pickup which I'm guessing is an error, or $207 UPS ground to ship it to me

FWIW, I wasn’t charged tax by RME to NJ on a 1/31/19 order.

The odd pick up fee might be because they drop ship? So if it’s a local pick up it still needs to be shipped to them? They are counting on google to return their site as the lowest priced vendor, so tacking onfees to cover costs is the workaround. Don’t know, just guessing. I know shows in stock quantities, but I’m skeptical it’s sitting on a shelf.

You could be right! That'd explain the $7 difference -- shipping to them in Denver or shipping to me in a different part of CO

If they had the QOHs they claim that would be a lot of $$ just ******* in inventory, sitting on a shelf....

I ordered from RME a few months ago, no issues. The jack is shipped in the factory box and packing which is good. I do not believe it was drop shipped. No tax for me as I'm in TN

Edit- ok, I found a piece of the box and it was drop shipped - from Carson, CA! It lists a 303 number but CA as the from address

Was it properly packed. Doubled boxed - instead of factory box. A little extra packing material in the original box to keep the jack from shifting.

Back when I bought mine (all of the above) was all concerns as it would be hell if they just shipped it in the factory box, IMO

No, just the factory box. It uses pieces of hard board inside. There was a few dings on the plastic handle near the attaching hole but nothing major. I'm 2000+ miles from CA

Hmmmmm...Harbor City is right next to Carson, home of Pelican Parts, which means it likely shipped right from Pelican (US distributor for AC Hydraulics)?

Steve at the Ultimate Garage use to be a distributor, he might chime in on how the manufacturer sets things up with distributors

The factory packing uses multiple pieces of hardboard and is quite robust. It's a jack. If it gets a paint scratch you should still be able to use it :) like I said, mine was shipped 2000+ miles from CA and was 98%. The only issue was a small scar on the plastic handle which will be impossible to protect vs 80? lbs of steel in the same box. I doubt any vendor is going to do enough extra packing to make it damage proof unless you pay $300 extra to ship it on a pallet. If its damaged, file a claim. I know it's a PITA, but just buy one and worry about the rest later

I haven't purchased the rubber saddle for it; not sure if i will. A hockey puck fits perfectly in the small diameter steel saddle on it

I am NOT a safety nazi and hate going off-topic but please bear with me--
Unsecured gas cylinders (even properly capped like in the above jack picture) give me a very uneasy feeling when I'm around them. Especially right where jacks are rolling around.

It's a million to one that one would get knocked over and turn into rocket. But things happen.

I am not "scared" of them used properly. I have been around, and using, them for decades. I just make sure they are secured from falling over.
