Hi All,

I need so transfer from a 30AMP 240 V Grid Circuit to a a 240V 30AMP Generator Service

When the generator is on I want the grid off. When the generator stops I want the grid to switch back in.

I see the RV equipment and industrial transfer switches. I f I get one for less than 250$ I am doing good??? They seem pricey for what they do.

Any advice that can be shared is gratefully welcomed.

I believe you'll be limited to a manual transfer switch if only 30A. What generator are you planning to use? Is it capable to be used on an auto transfer switch and auto start on loss of power?

an rv switch is just a set of contact that when utility (unit plugged in) energizes one set and another set that is ran off generator power, they use a N/C contact on the utilty one to to keep gen lock form puling in when utlity is present (contact open with utility power) but this will not auto start your generator. this would be a solution just to switch power from oneto the other

A single circuit? IE this does not need to be service entrance rated?

If not "SER", all you need is a 30A+/240VAC rated DPDT relay. Connect the coil of the relay to the generator's output, plus one set of terminals to the generator and one to the circuit off the grids hots. The common terminals will be the output.
