Does the European delivery make you pick up the car at the performance center in SC or did you just opt for that?

Awesome man! I just stumbled on your thread. It looks like we'd be best friends if I lived in GA. I have almost the exact same flooring horror story as you. This week, I got back on Garage Journal to get inspired again. It's nice to see someone not painting their walls orange and getting purple flooring. Then putting all kinds of tacky **** all over the walls.

I have always disliked the chip systems, but now completely understand why they do them. It's pretty darn hard to get a nice looking, single colored floor done without it looking messy.

I'm not a fan of plastic flooring, so I decided I was going to tile it. Well, that was until I learned how hard it was going to be to get this epoxy **** off the floor. I think I'm going to **** it up and do a black and gray chip system. So I too can have a floor that looks just like my grandmother's. I just hope I don't throw more bad on top of bad.

I was dead set on getting Lista or Moduline cabinets for my temporay two car, but decided to save the $25K and do them in my garage addition later on. In the mean time, I need to fix the floor and get some cabinets. I'm going to cheap out an get and array of Saber Magnum cabinets and cover my 24ft. wall with them. I priced it out at about $6K shipped with countertops.

Keep updating us. Congrats on the graduation from Honda to BMW. My AP2 S2000 is floating around your neck of the woods somewhere. I sold it to a guy that lives up there.

Not required. We just chose to do that. You can do ED and take redelivery at your dealer as well. I've done it both ways now. But it's free so why not :D

Would have hoped that white euro rocket took care of that. :lol_hitti

Hard to please would be an understatement :) Besides...she wears the financial pants believe it or not. I guess that happens when your wife makes more than you :pimpflash

Hi, Matt. I have seen your threads on Bimmerpost. Love your cars and your tidy garage as well. It does seem we are like minded with cleanliness, organization, and minimalism :)

I also wondered about laying down tile instead but you seemed to have confirmed my fears that the floor coating would have to come up first.

The floor guy offered to recoat and use chips but I really didn't want this same material again plus he crossed me with his ****** customer service and treatment...so I just said screw it I'll figure something else out. Don't know what else I can do except RaceDeck now. At least if I don't like it I can sell it unlike a coating.

I think you may have sold me your lip/splitter when you were selling your ap2 several years ago, on s2ki from jax I drove down to the villages. We're are building soon looking to avoid flooring pitfalls. Best of luck with your floor and sweet rides you've upgraded to.

Got a couple of cool items for my garage for Christmas. My brother found this Castrol lighted clock in the back of a tire shop he is helping a family friend manage. My in-laws picked up this autobahn speed derestriction road sign for me as well.

Cool additions for sure. That Autobahn sign is one I've always wanted to add. Nothing like finding one in Germany and then putting on that left blinker.

I'm not sure where I'm going to mount them yet. I'm thinking about finishing the big stuff like the floor and then stepping back and visualizing before I start throwing stuff on the wall haphazardly :D

The autobahn sign was a royal pain to locate. It's not an original of course but still has the reflective paint.

What is crazy is that the autobahn has become littered with speed zones and the derestricted zones seem few and far between.

The garage came together nicely despite the floor situation. I feel like I've seen too many badly coated floors to go that route. However, I did frequent Northpoint Land Rover for a bit and their shop has really nice floors. I'm curious to know who does those for them.

I live over in Dunwoody BTW and commute to Kennessaw, so I drive through your neck of the woods 5x a week.

So the black circle with 5 lines is a no speed limit?

Basically, yes.

"Where no general limit is required, the advisory speed limit is 130 km/h (81 mph), referred to in German as the Richtgeschwindigkeit. The advisory speed is not enforceable; however, being involved in an accident driving at higher speeds can lead to the driver being deemed at least partially responsible due to "increased operating danger".

I probably should have researched the Autobahn signs before I drove over there. I topped out my rental Opel Insignia (Buick Regal Turbo) at about 140mph driving from Frankfurt to Nurburg. Gutless turbo 4 cylinder - at least it had a manual transmission in it.

Lovely NSX, looks lovely.

Layout is also looking good.

Thanks! This is my third NSX. I keep coming back to one.

A manual makes ANY vehicle more fun!

UPDATE: Finally got the go-ahead from Mrs. Accel Junky on the RaceDeck floor. I've ordered a black free flow sample to see if it shows too much of the ugly polyaspartic through it. If it does I might be able to put down some sort of black sheeting underneath the tiles. Anyone done this?

I figure the free flow tiles A) probably stay cleaner looking with the fluids/dirt falling in slats and B) I think they look kinda cool with the subtle single color checkered look (as if that was a good reason...).

As soon as I get the sample we should have our tax refund which is how I'm justifying the expense. Then...should just be a matter of small stuff to get the garage how I want it. Thinking about plasti-dipping the cabinet doors black. That way I can reverse if I don't like it but right now not a huge fan of the hue of grey on them.

I was also thinking about plasti-dipping the concrete footer to match the black RaceDeck. I figure if that actually adheres I could peel it up if we ever move and take the tiles with me and leave the new owner with the single color polyaspartic including the footers.

/\ Very exciting! Some people lay down black landscape fabric if the view through the tiles bothers you.

I painted the footer all around my garage with a black masonry paint and love how it seamlessly transitions the floor to the wall.

I just got my sample of the free flow in. I'm torn. The free flow looks cool in pictures with that carbon effect but in person the single tile vs the single diamond tile...kind of looks cheap. I can't decide what to do but I'm ready to pull the trigger.

Dude, you should order a Swisstrax tile to compare.

Re: Accel Junky's 3-Car Attached Plus (Eventually) Detached Build

You can lay black underneath the robtrax/freeflow so everything is black.

You can see and example in the flooring section. One of the first thread (I think the Vette garage)

Having one tile doesn't do it justice on that scale. I've been through that when i placed my first order. Do it! Once its all down you won't have any regrets. Still thinking all one colour?

I ended up going with the all black RaceDeck diamond tiles. I figured it would be the safer choice for me considering how much back and forth I was doing. Not many examples of solid black RaceDeck floors online. I found one but the guy hadn't finished the whole garage. There were a couple with patterns that had large solid black sections but I've yet to see a complete garage with solid black Diamond tiles.

I tested changing the cabinet doors to black by hitting one with PlastiDip. Also I got some big canvas prints of some Nurburgring photos that I bought the rights to use in my home.

Not sure if they are going in the garage or my office.

I prefer monochrome. one thing I hate about all (except 1-2 exceptions) cabinets is the metal/silver handles.

but the handle on your plastidip seems to have a non-uniform finish?

It is just where the PlastiDip tore when I tried to slide the aluminum back on. fortunately I think I could leave off the aluminum strips. I'm not a fan of that either. The PlastiDip was just a quick look to see what I liked. It had runs. Already tore it off. Would do a better job if I did it for real.

Sadly I sold it to put a down payment on a 2012 5.0 Mustang in 2012. It was a 2008 Ducati 848 that I bought new. Loved that thing. No joke... the buyer actually wrecked it on the test drive. Fortunately I was able to get it fixed up enough and rode it home for him.

To this day I still have not been able to get another bike. My wife would love if I never did. I'm planning on getting a CBX to restore though. One day...
