Accent paint over epoxy

I have a two car garage that I plan on doing with Rustolem Pro. epoxy. My plan is to lay the base coat and then do an 8" border in black using garage paint then using the clear over the entire job.

My question is:

Is garage floor paint on top of epoxy for an accent color a good idea? Will it stick, especially with the clear on top of it?

Rustolem doesnt make a black floor epoxy in the professional series. What are my options.

Great forum BTW, lots of nice people and posts here.

While I can't say for sure (I am new to garage floor coatings, getting ready to do my own), I do a lot with epoxies on other projects (fiberglass and carbon fiber). I would imagine you could add a normal epoxy pigment to your floor epoxy and use that as black paint. That will ensure compatibility in the bonding, and shouldn't degrade the quality of the epoxy... but again, you'd want to hear from a floor expert, not myself!

Any composites supply place should have epoxy pigments.

It can be done as long as the epoxy is 100% solids and the paint has enough bond. Do a good job as it will show all imperfections and will require two additional coats if there are holidays.

Good luck.
