Why do I get a screen that says "This account has been suspended" when I try and open Garage Journal from my computer???

I got the same thing about an hour ago -- a big yellow screen with that message.

I exited that tab in Chrome, returned to garagejournal.com/forum and logged in again, and all seems to be fine...

I'm guessing you're OK now, too, since you posted this note somehow.

I had the same issue, was able to delete cookies on my browser and view as a guest, and it let me log in to post this? My username doesn't show as banned and I didn't get any messages from an admin?

Update: Closed the site and logged back in again without any issues, so whatever the problem was either clearing cookies for the site fixed it, or it was resolved on it's own.

I posted from my wife's computer. I can't get in through my computer or my phone. I can't even get the Garage Journal home page. I just backed in through Jack's 12 gauge garage site but can't get in from my computer using IE. Also when I logged in on my wife's computer a window appeared that said I had won a prize and just needed to fill out a survey to claim the prize. I've never heard of this on GJ and didn't click the link. Has this site been hacked??

That was weird!??
Maybe an admin. spilled his coffee on his keyboard.
Had me paranoid, wondered what I had done to be suspended.

Jack to the rescue . . . . . Thanks Jack !!

Up and working fine now.

EDIT: Problem did leave a "suspended" URL in the browser history that I right clicked on and deleted. That seemed to do the the trick to login again.

I got the same message.

I Googled Garage Journal, clicked on the "Forum" link and that brought me here without being signed in. I signed in and all was normal.

I just assumed GJ got hacked.

I mod two other forums sites and since GJ uses an older version of vBulliten it can happen.
For my other mod jobs we updated vBulliten just becase the Spam and attemptted hack ins got so bad.

GJ main page still screwed up but forum OK as of 1:23 pm EST.

I'm getting two IP address replies, so it might be a dns propagation issue. My squid server replies with 199.193.245.152 and my pc directly replies with 199.193.245.153

I have two internet providers here, if I just try to get on the internet from my pc the page comes up fine (as ip address 199.193.245.153). I also have a squid proxy server which I can use to go out through the 2nd internet connection instead of the 1st (unfiltered). If I go through my proxy, its trying to connect to www.garagejournal.com on 199.193.245.152 instead of 153.

If you have a website setup with a domain name like www.garagejournal.com, it has to point to an ip address, just like you have a street address. DNS servers are basically servers that tell our computers what ip addresses a domain should use, so if it changes, sometimes the dns servers are a little behind, and are still handing out the wrong addres.. kinda like if you move and forget to forward your mail

Oh man, I was a little worried. I twittered Ryan. Not sure what the issue was, but that looked like a cPanel or hosting issue. I'm only speculating.

This site is awesome! Thanks for getting it back up and running!

Yeah, looks like maybe there was a problem with the server, and they restored from a backup on another one? that would explain the missing posts from this morning, and why I was getting replies from multiple ip addresses

I was freaking out when I saw this earlier in the day. I thought my computer was being hacked like my email was a few days ago

Typically a planned change would have been communicated so the environment was not available during the swap. Keeps the fear factor down.
