Acquired this set of tap and dies that came from a hardware store. The sets contain metric, standard NC/NF/NS, NPT and BSPT. The collection is also mixed with branding, all marked USA:

  • ACE (cursive engraved, black coating on flutes/square drive)
  • Hanson (block letters inside a rectangular perimeter, silk screen or etched, black coating on flutes/square drive)
  • Hanson (block letters inside a rectangular perimeter, silk screen or etched)
  • Irwin Hanson (laser engraved)

Curious about any details on the tap/dies... way more than I need. I'll be looking to unload some, assuming their reasonable quality.

Looks like just carbon steel mechanics taps & dies. Not junk but nothing special either. Although some of the NS sizes might be worth real money to the right buyer.

Those cases are cool though.

When I worked at Ace we sold a fair mount of taps and dies. I can't remember the exact brand but we never had any come back as defective - and lots of people brought back all kinds of stuff because of Ace's liberal return policy.
Not really a scientific observation but I thought it was good enough that when they discontinued a line or two of taps/dies I brought in my sets and filled up on any I was missing.

Only a few NS ones: 4-36 NS, 14-20 NS and 3/16-24 NS
