I have had very good luck with Ace "Premium" spray paint (after swearing off Rustoleum). Today I ran out of paint mid project and stopped at Ace only to find that they have their "Premium" spray paint on sale this month 3/$10. They also have their "RustStop" for 3/$12.

Our store is running summer clearance. Got Krylon for 75% off ($2 per can).
That’s good, but not “you ****” good.

Not much time left, but use the code "AUG7" to get 15% off today. Edit, excludes sale and clearance prices.

Rustoleum paint never really dries, it just hardens to where it doesn't rub off when you touch it... (that's an exaggeration, but not much.)
Very limited recoat window and it does take forever to dry.

Rustoleum clogs up in the tube. When you go to use your half left over can from a few months back, it won't spray.

Rustoleum rusty metal primer (or self etch) dries in 15 min on a nice day. Ace ruststop might take all afternoon and night. All depends on the product, imo.

OP, why did YOU "swear off Rustoleum"?

A few years ago Rustoleum changed the design of the delivery system of their standard level paint cans. Everyone was having problems with the cans becoming unusable even though they was still plenty of paint inside. The valve inside the can (not the nozzle) would clog and would no longer spray. I threw away too many half full cans. No problem with the paint itself or their "professional" line, I just found that for general use the ACE premium line sprays beautifully, is durable and is much less expensive. I doesn't hurt that, for me, the nearest place to buy spray paint happens to be an ACE Hareware store. If I want to use Rustoleum I by a pt or qt can and use a spray gun to apply.
