Just got an ad in my newspaper for Ace Hardware and they are now selling Craftsman tools.

May be this can help a few members that may not have a local Sears near them.

I agree if you don't have a Sears near by, or don't even have a hardware store this is a great option for those who need to source out some tools etc . . .

Still better than having no options IMO . . .

I wonder if they will accepts warranty claims there as well...?

I can't see why not, seeing as they are selling said tools . . . The only thing I see not being replaced is if they don't actually carry a specific tool etc.

But, I am sure the standard policy would be they would accept the tool being a depot, and mail it in on your behalf etc . . .

I think in the big scheme of things its a win win situation for those who either live in a small town which does not have a Sears, or one that is very far out of the way . . .

in my town we have an awesome discount store called PAULS. anywho, they carry ace brand tools and hardware for some reason. the other day i noticed they had a very, very, very small assortment of craftsman tools. I think there was a drill kit, spline wrenches, and a mechanics tool kit on the shelf

The Ace by me has been advertising this for the past month although they have no C-man out yet. I like it as the hardware store is 5 minutes from my house and you never know when you're in the middle of something and need a tool quick, especially something decent quality. I just hope they will carry a good selection, unlike the Kmart near me.

A few months ago when the news first broke, it was said that a few Ace stores would carry Craftsman on a trial basis, and that all Ace locations would have the opportunity to carry certain Craftsman tools during the Father's Day shopping season.

Stopped in my local ace today and was excited to see they had put up a craftsman display. The selection was kind of disappointing, a small 104 piece socket set those spline wrenches and a nextec driver. Hopefully there is more to come though.

its nice to know that ace will be carrying craftsman tools. i was wondering if someone would pick up the craftsman name. i've been worried about sears grand and k-mart. they've been dropping like flies around here. whenever i go to sears grand the employees outnumber the customers. its sad. i will definately be buying whatever craftsman stuff i can at ace from now on. i want to support them and keep them around unlike some of the naysayers out there that seem to have some sort of vendetta towards craftsman.

I support Craftsman when they manufacture a product that meets my basic standards.

I do not care about warranty. In my case if you have to get a simple tool warrantied chances are that it will go back over and over. Don't want to make time for multiple warranty's.
Cheap prices make me wary. I feel that cheap = junk unless someone is losing. In the case of cheap tools that hold up, corners possibly have been cut in areas such as pollution that have been the possible cause of the increase of cancer in countries like China.

I just want something that will hold up under ordinary use.

If you cannot produce chrome-plating that will hold up, then don't use it at all-- and find a good marketing angle to sell it without chrome.

Don't be gimmicky, be innovative.

There are a lot of companies out there that just mimic one another. They all go down the build-it-cheaper-and-sell-more-of-it street, until all we have left is a throw-away product.

^ You sir, are funny.

I hope Ace carries singles of wrenches and sockets. The Sears dealership store in my town don't.

Seriously! that's one of the reasons why i still want to buy craftsman, the warranty is easy because they sell stuff in singles. Is your sears a bigger one or not?

No, its just one of those catalog stores that only stocks appliances, mowers & such. They have some tools but mostly sets.
