I hope no one else on here has had to suffer through a terrible buying experience, or should I just call it what it is, a scam.

In July I placed an order for 2 Eagle Safety cans and 3 Marshalltown brick trowels. After 2 weeks I was still waiting for my order, so I email them and their response was that my order was backordered and it would be another 10-14 days.

Another 2 weeks goes bye and I still hadn't received my order. I get an email from them saying I need to pay and additional $49.95 for shipping stating that my order is "special order". I don't see what's so special about 2 gas cans and some brick trowels, but anyway, I refused the additional cost and requested my order to be canceled and my credit card refunded. They promptly replied stating that my order is canceled and credit card is refunded.

Now its been 2 more weeks and I still haven't received my refund. I sent another email saying that I expect my refund within the next couple days. No response by email. Calling the toll-free number gets an answering machine that says nothing more than "Leave a message". No mention of it being a business or anything. But I was left a voice mail from some woman telling me I need to call her back at a number other than the companies toll free number and give her my credit card number and exp date in order to get my refund since "We don't keep credit card numbers on file".

First off, I'm not giving my CC number to some cell phone. Plus, they blatantly lied to me when they told me my refund was sent. If they truely don't keep CC numbers on file, they knew at that instance that giving me a refund was impossible. I've had to call the bank and dispute the charge on my credit card.

The site is nothing more than a scam. They take your money without shipping you anything and string you along hoping to delay you long enough past the time frame you could dispute the charge on your CC.

After reading THESE reviews, they have been running this scam for a year now.

Thanks for the "heads up" on that site; as I do my share of online purchases....

Luckily, I am less than 20 miles from one of the Best Ace Hardware stores that I could ever hope to find.. These friendly, knowledgeable people know their products, and their store is well stocked... I would be tempted to go into the store and have them order a nonstock item for me;;; maybe get around the shipping charges??? Worth checking out..

That place gives a bad name to Ace. Ace hardware stores are "independently" owned, and that particular site is owned by an Ace store in Florida.
They're always advertising prices that they don't honor, and items that they don't have. It's a real waste of internet space.

wowzas, that's pretty bad feedback from just about everyone.

Sounds like they charger low rates, get a sale, and then try to charge extra for "special order shipping."

That, and massive search engine spamming. I'd guess that 90% of the "inventory" on their site is stuff they don't actually sell. Just products skimmed from other sites, to get you to find them and increase their search rank.
I'm always finding stuff that they claim they have the best prices on.
