does the floor need to be diamond ground down, I have quite a few old oil spills on this 12 year old concrete?

Dennis:

The challenge is that you will grind away the material that the acid needs to react with.
Simple Green is what we recommend to get this cleaned up.

More aggressive cleaners may kill the ability to get color, good color using an acid stain.

So true.... I know a fellow who was so proud of himself for prepping his floor for stain by grinding. He said it was a light grind or so he thought. Needless to say he has a nice epoxy floor now :D
