I'm considering doing an Acid stain to my 32x30 floor and am trying to figure out how to achieve a dark gray marbeled look, Charcoal might be a better color description. I've seen them online this way but not sure how to get that shade. I'm guessing cutting Black stain with water and testing is how it's being done ?. I'm afraid straight Black would be just that, My slab is extremely light colored almost white would just like to darken it and bring out the variation in it. Any help appreciated. Happy Dads Day BTW.

Diluted black stain will give you a brown....you may want to try a diluted acetone based or water based black dye to get the color you desire.

I originally wanted to acid stain and also was looking to do a similar look to what you describe. From my research there is no acid stain in grey. I purchased a sample kit and put down black sample patches in various dilution ratios. I didn't like the results. I then considered acetone dye, but in the end I didn't want to deal with acetone.

In the end I decided on H&C semi transparent decorative stain in tumbled stone. I have all my product just haven't had a chance to put it down yet.

I'm topping it with 2 coats of Legacy's clear epoxy sealer and a coat of 356 urethane clear.

Same thing ive run into so far. I found that Eagle made a Charcoal stain but apparently it's not available anymore. I just purchased the Legacy extreme sealer system also, and was initially going to just seal the concrete as is but really like the look of the stain. I'll check into the HC line thanks.

Edit- just looked at the H&C line and tumbled stone is exactly what I'm trying to achieve, thanks again! Post up some pics when you get yours done, it's going to be awhile before I can get around to my floor.
