So I want to build a scissorlift table... top will be 2 1/2 x7 ft... dedicated for a 200 lb load item assembly work ... Caskets.

Yes... I can Google... but I know the like stationary flange mount nuts for some reason can be VERY $$$$ spendy compared to the Acme shaft.

So, looking for sources please.

Planning on very similar to the link below...Will actuate w cordless drill... no pneumatics or electric motor drive needed for me.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Will be making from wood, not steel.

Thanks all, Marc

Might you be able to salvage and use a couple of scissor lift car jacks doesn't seem like a lot of weigh in comparison.

McMaster-Carr, Applied industrial or Motion Industries in that order is where I would start looking.

Just saying here...the design of the scissors has to be contemplated. A wide low angle scissors (in stability position) has a much greater tension load on the thread as the load is raised from "scissors closed". Ideally a needle thrust bearing(s) would be employed Beware of the multi-start thread which is a "speed" device.

It sounds like an expensive way to approach this if you ask me as Acme stuff isn't cheap to start with. Combine meshing wood + metal and even more complexity develops. I'd either start with the guts of a hydraulic lift table or setup a cheap system of compression members (iow different length pieces of wood) that hold the setup solidly at different elevations.

I would start with Craigslist...I picked up a 1000lb hydraulic scissor lift table for $200 which is one of my favorite machines.

Table is 2.5' x 3.5' and on wheels...extending out to 7' with wood would be child's play, but it would prolly want a static mount.

I live very rural, so will not find on like on CL or anywhere else.

I dug into this today and decided to get the HF 1000 lb motorcycle lift for $300.

Interestingly also a very helpful fellow GJ member PM'd me w this suggestion.

Way more cost effective than trying to engineer and make my own.

So that's the solution.

Thank you all for your posts.

I have the 1000# version of that; to use it for a casket (full size anyway) you'd need to mod or remove the handle. Not a prob with the motorcycle lift. (Yes, I have both, BTDT)... Steve

I am somewhat familiar w MMC, but have not dug in there yet.

How is their pricing ?

Not like Grainger for example I hope !!

Marc

I know you resolved the issue, but wanted to note that mcmaster is not cheap, but they have it and will get it to you pretty quickly. Fun site to play around on too.
