I've used a boxcutter in the past, however, I will be installing a lot of tiles in some of my office ceilings. What cutting tool do the proffessional drop ceiling installes use to cut accoustic ceiling tiles?

TIA,

Utility knife and tape measure. And maybe a T grid for angle cuts. That is all the professionals use. To measure you stick your tape against the wall angle, the part nailed to the wall and not the edge 1" from the wall and then measure to your T. Then take your tape and using your finger on the edge of the tile scribe a line using the end of the tape. Then cut the tile at that measurement. If you are using flat tile that is it. If you are using reveal edge then you set your tile in the grid and pull tight to the T. Scribe a line with your knife of the wall angle. Take the tile out and cut on your score line the depth of your recess. Then cut in from the edge of the tile with your knife to make the "rabbit" cut. Install the tile. No fancy tools are as fast or as accurate as this, I've installed hundreds of thousands of square feet of this stuff. A bakers cart like painters use to stack tile on and a pair of stilts and you will fly through it.

They make a cheap cutter at Menards for cutting ceiling tile edges. Work great!
