acronyms

we all use them. problem is, and maybe i'm the only one, some of us don't know what the heck half of them mean. i can usually figure out the jist of the conversationbut it'd be alot less frusteration if i knew what they meant.

how about posting some of the acronyms we all use and what they mean?

Remember the scene in the movie Odd couple where Felix leaves Oscar a cryptic note ending with FU and Oscar goes crazy trying to figure out what FU means...I'm with tpolley and Oscar, I am so far out of the instant message lingo that I only recently figured out what LOL means.

So, I checked the internet slang site and found out that odlss means "overdose...last song syndrome." Now what the heck does that mean, the translation is as opaque as the acronym itself !? Here's my new acronym for all of you acronym users...FAAJSWYM!

A while back, a friend's car broke down, i tried to explain the problem to no avail. In the end i told him that the equation Y = SOL explained it.

another one was pontiac.........have to tell the story tho how i first heard it........i was 14 ['73] in windsor ont. visiting family and we went across to detroit for a shopping visit......came across an old pontiac, early 60's,can't recall the exact model, but nice wheels, paint etc......pristine to say the least.........while i 'm drooling allover this thing , the owner, an huge old black guy comes up asks if i like it.........i say yea, and then asks me if i know what pontiac stands for.........i say no and he gets all serious looking and say it stands for " poor ole n---- thought it a cadillac"........this just floored me and left me stammering for something to say when he let's out a big belly laugh, claps me on the shoulder and says just messin with ya boy........told this to some of the black guys at work and i would have to say most , not all see the humour.........
