First, thank you to those that respond. I've got a slight issue....I used Valspar's solid color concrete sealer. I acid etched my garage floor, and ensured it was a etched as much as you could without grinding it with a diamond pad. I put 2 good coats on with some paint chips, and it has fully cured. It is very solid, and looks good, but I was looking for a high gloss sealer to put over it. I bought Seal Krete gloss sealer, but read some terrible reviews, so I have returned it. I just got off the phone with Valspar and they say that since the 'solid color' sealer is NOT porous they don't 'recommend' any sealer. So I have a couple issues/questions...is there a high gloss sealer for an acrylic concrete sealer? If not, what can I do to prevent hot tire peal on what I have already laid down?

Thanks again for your response!

OK, it looks like it's a solvent based acrylic sealer. There isn't anything you can do to prevent hot tire pickup with this type of product. Generally you can apply a solvent based acrylic on top of another solvent based acrylic (a glossy clear for example), but if Valspar said no, then they would know their product best. It still wouldn't prevent hot tire pickup.

Your best bet is to stick with what you have until you don't like the way it looks anymore. You can then grind it off and apply an actual epoxy or polyurea garage floor coating system that will not get hot tire pickup and will last for years.

Valspar makes their own 'Premium Clear Coating'. They promote is as an optional finish over their color coats. I am surprised that they wouldn't mention it in response to your inquiry.

That particular coating is epoxy. You don't want to apply epoxy over acrylic.

That was your answer straight from the manufacturer. For what ever reason they have determined that a sealer is not compatible. Anything you attempt to apply over it is basically making you a test mule. The product you are asking about is for bare concrete. It will most likely peel if applied to a non porous surface. You may also have an issue with the solvents from a sealer reactivating your color coat causing the color to blead into the clear.

I realize this isn't what you want to hear, but you kind of hamstrung yourself with the product you put down initially. :dunno:
