I am looking to purchase a benpak XPR-10A-LP. What is min ceiling height required to install the lift. The spec shows it at 145". Can I install in a ceiling that is 145" or does the ceiling need to be higher to all for standing up the lift?

I just double checked my height where the lift will be installed and I have 143.5 inches. If I have to cut the ceiling drywall, will the post fit between stand floor joist that are on 16" centers?

If this is an attached garage to your house, removing the ceiling drywall may be against fire code. Lift should fit between floor joist, but may be a little fiddly getting it together.

Also, depending on which direction your floor joists run, they will dictate your lift placement if you're tucking the lift up in between them. If they run parallel to the way a vehicle would sit on the lift, make sure the posts can both fit up in a joist bay..in other words if you get one tucked up in there, make sure a joist does not run where you need to have your second lift post.

I assume the lift will be running parallel to the trusses? Just to be safe, I'd get the measurements from their specs, and lay it out. Would **** to get it and find out that when they are the required distance apart, one side falls under a truss.

Yep. Lift runs parallel to top bar of lift and there is a living space above. I have 14" I-Joist in the ceiling. I only need an inch or two. So, thinking about framing a box 2 inches up and mount the 5/8 drywall a little higher. I have r-38 in there which is 2" thick.

Be careful where you measure! Your floor should be sloped, so your ceiling height will be greater at the door vs. the other side of the garage. (Your lift location will be somewhere in between.)

So, best to confirm your ceiling height at all walls to see what you have to work with. Extrapolating the height from your front to back wall measurements might be a good sanity check on your measurement in the middle of the room, since you'll need your tape to be perfectly straight to give you an accurate measurement.
