Actual width of Harbor Freight 56" box?

I was wondering exactly how wide just the box is on the 56"? a local guy has a snap on top/middle type box that is 53-3/8" wide and wouldn't mind having the hft 56" top and bottom with the snap on in the middle.

Inside measurement on the top of the base cabinet, since you are setting a box in the middle: 56 1/16 x 21 1/2"

I just sold mine so I can't check but I'm pretty sure it was exactly 56" or a tad over. Box only no handle.

Thanks! I was sort-of hoping it was like the 44" and included the handle in the measurement.

It's closer to 57.5, without the handle.

Jim1987 measurement is the outside measurement. It is not flat on top, it has an edge on the back and sides.

Would like to hear some real world measurements of both the 56" and 44" boxes here as well.

I have a spot in my shop that is 13'1". Would love to take the handles off and squeeze two 56" and one 44" into that spot. Last time I checked our local store didn't have a 56" on display but they were pretty new at the time.

56.75" outside to outside. The 56.5" inside to inside is indeed acurate.
