I like the idea. My tool cart is set up similarly for the tools I use regularly but takes up a bigger foot print. That would work at my home garage as I am tight for space

I find them totally inspiring, living in SF makes him to have to improvise with space, and as I live in metro Boston, i Need these space friendly solutions as well.

How about his small parts storage? I thought those Sortimo boxes looked cool 'till I looked for a price on them

The best stuff is always spendy. That's why the Sortimo stuff is so nice compared to the usual compartment box's.

I'd have a rack like that if I had a shop to myself and needed certain tools constantly, alas it's not practical for most pros or shared shops. I love watching Adam and seeing his shop and projects. I'm covetting a holster for my Leatherman like his, in fact his video on it and comments of how much he uses them convinced me to go Wave over the Gerber's I have had for years. Stopped carrying them because they were lacking....but the Wave is always on my belt thanks to Adam.
True. But I just priced the boxes. I just cant't justify the cost of sortimo boxes. Is there something middle of the road (trying to stay away from harbor freight and made-in-china in general)?

4 year thread bump but I will answer. There isn't anything middle of the road really that isn't made in China. I would probably say the Stanley fatmax ones are pretty good (I have a couple in the van) but they are not exactly cheap either (but not sortimo money)
I you want first world made then the high end stuff is it.

Plano made in USA boxes. 3400, 3500, 3600, 3700 series. Places like Academy Sports and others happily match walmarts low prices so you don't have to go to walmart either.
Firstly, I have major bro-love for Adam Savage - was always a Mythbusters fan, etc.. I've been watching a bunch of his vids during the work-from-home world we're living in, and he's great.
Secondly, this gives me some inspiration. I don't have any desire at all for that kind of tool rack, but I can definitely see a rolling something I can park next to the car I'm working on that holds my impacts, sockets and a few others things...
I get the feeling I'm going to be playing with some cardboard models at some point...

There are couple of good build threads on GJ about stacking parts boxes.
I too think MrSavage is a badass, and his builds are inspiring and accessible.
He has a whole website dedicated to all things nerdy, plus builds- www.tested.com
After researching this exact topic I wound up with the Husky 10 compartment parts organizer. I find them to be the best cost:function out there.
_ relatively efficient use of space (cant say the same about Stanleys and def not Miwaukee Packout)
_ cheap, usually $10-15 ea
_ easy to find
_ robust, ive been beating on mine for 2+ yrs now, everyday jobsite/shop.
_ good enough locking system
_ nested locking feature

100% agree with this. I’ve tried pretty much everyone out there and these are by far the best bang for the buck.
