Add a Cabinet Door?

This is a Tell City china cabinet I inherited. A classic beauty. I had hope we could store our air fryer in the base but the doors are too narrow. I wonder if a good cabinet man could convert the center panel to a door, creating double doors on one side and single on the other. I would never chance it myself on a fine work like this.

Has anyone tried this or is it not at all practical? Thanks for any opinions.

Seems possible. Have you checked on the inside to see how the panel is attached.
You could make it a bifold door if you hinge it to the other door if that makes sense.

The doors have a magnetic stop at the underside of cabinet, top of door. Seems to me best way would be to add top and bottom pivot pins on the panel to swing it on, then a similar stop as for the doors. Panel appears to be nailed in at top and bottom, probably glued as well. Would take careful cutting of seams to get it loose. If this were K Mart furniture, I would try doing it myself. But not with this piece.

actually look closer, I would look at euro hinges for the center door, and a push to open latch

Looks good. So far, my wife is twisting my arm to leave it alone. She doesn't want to risk any damage or scarring.
