Hello, I can’t find help on this. My garage is dry walled. I have attic access to load center but not to opposite wall to drop down romex behind drywall. Can I run romex from load center to attic and across attic about 10 feet into either emt or pvc that is wall mounted with hole cut into ceiling for it to access attic? I want to add a couple of 20 amp plug circuits.

I would myself but can’t get to top plate because of hard foam insulation. That’s why I asked about hole in ceiling for the emt or pvc. If I wall mounted should come up next to the plate in attic.

Yes no prohibition on doing that however pulling NM-b in pipe can be a PITA.

It would be easier if you transitioned to THWN for the conduit run.

If he's only going from the ceiling to the outlet height, it won't be very hard. 10ft of straight conduit is pretty easy to pull through.

Follow up question - would it hurt if I just cut into the foam insulation enough to drill a hole through top plate so I could just drop the romex? I could always spray a little stuff over it.

Assume you mean remove the sheetrock? Then notch sprayed in insulation to run the wire down to a box? As far as drilling top plate - Sure!

I saw a new home garage, was a thing of beauty they went to all the trouble to put another 100A box in the garage then 1 20A circuit and drywaller all up. Easiest way is to cut a couple work holes at the top. Its not hard to add below a panel in a lot of cases as well as a stud bay over. I use a 4x4 old worbox below it. Fold some cable in the wall, can actually remove the box and work thru the hole in the future
