legally i cannot run power to my garage unless i have power company dig long ditch from main pole on road to garage. Then i have to hire a electrician to add box in rear & bring power in. The avg price was not worth it.

So here is my problem. I purchased a HAWK gas generator in 1998 & never really used it much. It sat for a while with gas in it of course. I know bad idea. Oh, before i forget this is put out by Lister-Petter & the model # is HPE 4800. I can get idle but thats all. I took off carb .. a Mikuni & found numbers on top body V931 & what looks like E301BB. Cleaned it but still no good. I cannot find anyone that has that number minkuni carb. If i get it running the few times i need power i can use it. Any ideas:dunno::dunno: ?

Most likely the fuel jets are gummed up. It will take more than just spraying cleaner in the carb. The jets need to be removed and use a jet cleaner drill bit to clean or just buy new jets.

Run temporary power from the house. Run in conduit for protection. Bury an inch so it disappears. Don't ask, don't tell.

If your gonna run it from your house in the middle of the night, you might as well do it right. Bury it a tad deeper then a few inches and use rigid conduit.

Well it"s not really a garage. My garage it attached to my home. This is more of a barn slash garage. Also i have 3acres. This is approx 1ac away. My own personal fun space.

Does the power company have to dig the trench, or can you dig as long as you give them the width and depth they require? Depending on size, a ditch witch could do this pretty easily -- assuming you aren't sitting on top of a rock field.

Eh, maybe it's because I don't know enough about electrical in general. If it were my place I'd try to find a way to get it done cheap, but right.

I would just run power myself and not say anything, how much power do you need there anyway. Worse case if you sell the house you disconnect it or say it was there when you got it. Unless you plan on having a big service in there who's gonna know

We can't figure out how far in linear feet the barn is from the main service.

If you said it was 40 acres or 10 acres, those are usually square (split up from the quarter section). 3 acres is a bit tough, could be divided any which way. If you had said "I have 50 acres, my house is in the middle of the 40 and my barn is on the back 10", that'd make sense.

Anyway, with enough width to have a house, it cannot be that far to the barn, so count me in for running your own.

However, Mikuni has a large and loyal following, especially in motorcycling. Should not be impossible to fix.

Before you condemn the carburetor, check to see if the governor is stuck. Also check to make sure the idle control solenoid is working properly.

Both of these have the potential of sticking if not used for long periods.

Good Luck
