I'm looking to add a outdoor floodlight light to my pole Barn garage. it currently has an older light now where you can see the wiring was run underneath through a hole cut in the metal siding (not my work).
I would like to mount so the wiring is coming into the light from directly behind it. As you can see in the pictures, the outside header beam runs just above the existing hole, so I would need to drill a small hole through the header to go into the box that will be mounted on the outside. Are there any issues with this approach?
It looks like the current light is mounted to a octagon shaped box, which itself is surface mounted onto the piece of wood. Is there a better way to mount the light?
