This cabinet appeared in my neck of the woods this morning. Anything under $100 a drawer, that is this clean, is a great deal around here. Certainly not a "you ****" price, but I didn't hesitate at $975. The wheels look factory, but I don't think I will keep them on the box. I actually kind of wish it had 1 or two deeper drawers. Maybe my luck will hold and I'll find someone who wants to swap some shallow drawers for some deeper ones.

I'll paint this one to match the rest of my cabinets (pic of my cabinets and bench being assembled).

I would say that was an excellent buy, I have 3 Vidmar, one Rousseau and they are all the narrow(30 inch) models. I paid about $700 each for the last two I bought and was pretty pleased.

Nice score! Too bad it isn't a 42" w. I'm looking to swap three 2's for two 3's. Are you planning on going black to match the other ones?

I think the drawers are 42w". I could be getting my numbers mixed up, but I bet they are the same. I think we are trying to swap for the same thing though...shallow drawers to deeper drawers. I don't need (4) 2" drawers. I'm going to email Motorhead today to see what an 8" would run me. Or maybe a couple 4"ers. Probably too spendy though.

Yes, I'll paint it to match the others. It's two tone, rustoluem hammered black, and hammered grey.

Thanks! Yes, I would agree, $700 would be a good price for a 30" cab, as long as it's not a beat up basket case. That about what I paid for my full height 30" Lyon's.

Just out of curiosity, do y'all put anything on the outside of the bearings to make the drawers roll easier? I have been using white lithium spray grease

I don't. I think putting oil or grease on the outside of the roller is just a spot that will collect dust and get all gunked up eventually. I just cleaned the old grease out of the inner bearings and put a little oil in them.

I grease the rails, with a bit of grease mixed with Teflon powder (Ebay), the draw roll easier and the rail do not wear over time. I have seen a number of Lista/Vidmars which I turned down due to worn down rails, admittedly these unit were never lubricated (bearings or slides). So what what if the rails attract dust, if you clean them every 10 years it not a big deal. Only issue is you need to wipe the rail areas where you might lean your sleeves on.

Date a girl with small hands. It's all about perspective. Haha.

quest

That's good!

Do you guys have a "hands down" best solvent for blasting the old grease out of these drawer bearings? I used lacquer thinner on my last cabinet bearings I think and it worked fine, but it still required a few applications and spinning of each bearing. It gets tedious. I was thinking of trying carb cleaner maybe? Anything you just love to use for this sort of thing?

If you get rid of the casters, let me know, or we can do some Lista parts trading.

I use brake cleaner to remove the grease out. However, that drawer and suspension appears to be in good shape. I've seen various conditions of Lista cabinet come through my home and if any bearings need to be cleaned, it's the front ones (@ the suspension).

Does any of your Lista cabinet use the newer suspension system w/ plastic bearings? If so, how do you like it over the traditional metal bearings?

I would like find a deeper drawer to replace a couple of the shallower drawers. I don't think I will use it on casters, but will need to figure out a proper base for it. That's a monster sized cabinet to be on wheels, even when empty. I can't imagine why I would want to move it around anyway. Do you have any wide drawers?

The bearings on these cabinets are very sticky or at least the front bearings are, haven't checked them all yet. Overall this cabinet is exceptionally clean. I was told it came out of a biomedical company's "clean room." So it ought to be!

I have 3 (of 11) cabinets with the nylon rollers. They are fantastic! Incredibly smooth compared to my steel bearing cabinets. I have 6 cabinets in storage now, that will be used in my new shop that I will start to build this spring/summer. The picture above is in my garage. It will all move to the new shop as well.

Unfortunately, no. It would be cool if we have a trading thread for high-density cabinet trading thread.

From what I've seen, mid width drawers (like yours, 40" wide) is hard to come by in used market. The standard width is very common. I would love to those wide drawers, the wider, the better, IMO.

40" is pretty good. Wider than that and the drawers take two hand to pull out straight.

All my cabinets are only 30" wide. I would like to see if your hypothesis about wide drawer is true. I would imaging if you load one side of the drawer significantly heavier, then it may "take two hand to pull out straight." My guess is - it doesn't matter.

Try it and let us know.

Climb.on, killer cabs.
Just to chime in on the one hand pull. My beat cab is 60in and pulls easily with one hand anywhere in the center 3ft. Any closer to the edges and you need to finesse it.
