I have an 18” deep craftsman drawer i use for sockets. Alwya had 1 rail. Its has provisions for two. Initial detents are ok-a little tug is needed to move it and the tool weight.
Any preferred brands of good slide makers?
maybe even a push to open and soft close?
heck ideally even a damper for soft open?

I looked into doing this a few years ago with some of my Craftsman drawers but never carried thru with it. I got the numbers off the slides and found the identical ones online somewhere. IIRC they were ~$25 ea which dampened my enthusiasm.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but you mention detents, etc. I am not sure about your box, but the older (non griplatch) box I had used a black plastic part mounted inside the box that latched to a feature on the rear of the drawer. If you remove a drawer, you'll see how it latches.

Thanks. Sounds like these may have a PN somewhere if I remove the slides themselves then?
Ill gladly spend the 50-60 bucks to have double row. its a little flimsy right now and ill be adding another 20 lbs of impacts shortly.
if you dont pull it straight out it binds a little bit with the excessive side to side movement.

You renewed my curiosity, so I looked at the slides on mine and looked up the number again- the PNs are visible without removing them. They are apparently no longer available for my box, or at least they don't pop up on the first page of a search.
Repon 27827-D-L and 27828-D-R. Only Sears lists them now, but says NLA. IIRC, at the time that I checked, they were on Amazon.
Still, if you want to add more than 4 slides you'd be better off buying a used box off CL that has the same slides and pillaging them.

Agreed to buying a used box. I bought 3 of the Mac/Husky boxes. Reinforced with slides and rearranged drawers to my liking, all shallow in the chest and deeper in the bottom.
