Well since I picked up my Hobart 210MVP welder I decided it is time to add a 240V outlet to really take advantage of the machine. I am pretty sure I have it all figured out but double checking never hurts. Anyways I have only done basic electrical work (think switching outlets and some wiring. Wiring being mostly on my truck so 12V stuff). I do have all the tools I should need (wire cutters, screwdrivers, volt meter). I checked with my local building inspector guy (or called) and talked him through what I planned to do and he didnt see a problem. Said no permit would be needed and based on what I said it sounds like Im good to go.
This is in Washington State FYI.
Anyways my plan is to use a simple 30amp 2pole breaker and 10/3 wire. As for my plan (pictures will be below) I plan to run the wire down through the box then through the stud and place the outlet basically on the other side of the stud as the box. This should be easy as i have a large cut out (the piece of wood on a hinge) below the box that the previous owner made to access the cable splitter. The outlet will be in the corner pretty much but I have a 50ft extension cord so not worried (plus its close to the garage door so if i weld outside it would be close).
Anyways does this sound ok to more experienced people? Anything Im missing or not thinking of?
