i have a heavy steel table with casters welded on but no brake on them. i have used some thumbscrew brakes on a lighter table i have and was wondering if anyone has ever added a thumbscrew to there caster to keep it from moving when working on the table. here is a picture of what i was thinking… i would drill and tap the side of the caster housing and then add the thumbscrew. the wheels are solid phenolic that the screw would be pushing against.

In a pinch I take a small piece of chain and whip it around the wheel or wheels (where it touches the floor) and it usually stops any rolling.

Cool idea, I suggest putting a but tacked to a washer on wheels side, sort of a shoe. That way the bolt won't eat the wheel. Maybe a twin thumb screw on the opposing side so nothing warps.
