I have a gantry crane in my shop driveway. I have recently been working on it and one thing I'd really like to do is to add a chain bag. I'm looking for someone who has modified a Chinese (e.g. Harbor Freight) manual chain hoist to add a chain bag. Please post pictures. Failed attempts would also be helpful, as I'll be trying to design one.

I did see the one youtube video of the lady who sewed up a bag reinforced by a lifting sling. Sadly, no details of how it was attached were provided.

Too bad you are so far away. I've an incredible canvas money bag that would do the job just about perfectly!

I use a boat mechanics tool bag.
(Sorry, no PIC handy.)
You are in boat country so it shouldn’t be hard to find one.
They are heavy canvas with handle straps that loop completely under the bag to hold weight.
(On the boat mechanics do not use tool boxes because the hard comers can scratch the wood and fiberglass.)
