Adding a drain

Anyone ever add a drain in an already finished floor? The driveway to my garage is sloped towards the garage so during heavy rain water runs in one corner of the overhead door and acumulates in one side of my garage. Is there any reason I can't dig a hole in the concrete and put in a barrel for drainage? I guess I would just put in an expanded metal screen on the top.

You'll need a trap..and if you have a lot of clay in the ground, a bucket won't work..if you could get a trap in, and run some drain tile in the yard, I think you'd be fine.

I have the same problem, I am going to saw cut the concrete in front of my over head door and put in a trench type drain. This will run the 10' span of my door. Then I am going to burry drain tile and run it to a 6' deep pit filled 3/4 of the way with Pea Gravle.

What do you mean by adding a trap? I see where some people just have a 55 gal drum in ground with holes cut in the bottom and filled with gravel..

Storm sewer drains don't require traps the way drains running into sanitary sewers do.
The trap is to prevent the sewer gas odor from coming back into building.
