I have a couple small engines that the governor is either not functional or completely missing. I believe most are briggs engines. Does anyone know of a cheap and easy governor retrofit for these engines. Im guessing that the flywheel fan style is about the only option considering I dont think any of my engines have the internal cam style.

The cheapest, most-likely-to-work solution is to get the parts from a junk engine or, depending on the engines you have, you might be able to get them from Briggs. Often the local small engine shop has a pile of junkers headed for the scrap yard and that would be a good source. I believe there are different governors for different applications so that may be a challenge. By the time you find the parts and get it all working the $99, 6.5 hp from HF will look pretty attractive.
