I read a thread here a while back about a guy who jacked up one side of his garage at a time and chopped out the rotten non-pressure treated sill and added a layer of block to help with water etc. and then added a new sill plate.

I loved that thread - it gave me hope that my garage can be saved!!! Now I want to read it again but I can't find it! I've tried googling, google imaging, searching the forum for "block, layer of block, jack up, water, drainage etc"

In addition to that - What's driving this search is - I'm trying to find out how you attach the block to the existing slab?:lol_hitti

Thanks - hope this makes sense. My garage is somewhat small, but the longer I live here, the d@mn ting grows on me and I want to save it.

Pete,

I'm glad you enjoyed my thread. Hopefully I will have some time to post some updated pictures soon.

In my siutation I didn't have to use any bolts to attach the new course of block to the exisiting foundation, which was also block. I did however fill in the blocks with mortar to make sure everything was solid. I used the wedge anchor bolts to attach the sillplate to the block after filling the cores.

You can install anchors to hold the block down or epoxy some rebar dowels in the slab and fill those block cells with grout. Also put in some anchor bolts to hold the building to the block.
