My buddy just gave me a brand new 40 gallon contact tank used for adding chlorine to his well water. Apparently he had it left over.

So I was thinking of adding it in line with my water heater as a tempering tank.

Its just spun fiberglass, so its not insulated so it should soak up some heat pretty easy. I live in Florida so I have no concerns about freezing temperatures.

So the question is where to put it. Should I put it inside the garage or outside in the elements? Maybe in the garage attic? It gets pretty damned hot up there, but then it could leak.:dunno: I think the tank is fine wherever. I am thinking more along the lines of the best energy use.

I am just screwing around here, so I am not super serious, and this is going to cost me nothing but 2 bucks in PVC. I have a 50 gallon heat pump water heater that works well.
